    Chunks of skin falling out

    Hello everyone-

I have read many posts on here about how snus will dry out your inner lip/gums and make them feel leathery. I have had that, and it doesn't bother me. BUT...I am having a totally different reaction and am wondering if this happens to anyone else.

First, I have been using snus for about four years now. This problem that I am now having started about 3-5 months ago, and it seems to be getting worse. After using snus all day, I go to bed. When I wake up, large chunks of skin from my inner lip peel off and I spit them out. It doesn't hurt, my lip is not sore, I don't have any sores or bleeding from my lip or gums. But it it starting to freak me out. When it first started, the pieces of skin that would come off my lip were small. Now, months later(this morning), I had a huge chunk of dead skin come off (about an inch long).

I move the snus around to different places in my mouth, including putting it in my bottom lip. This problem only happens when I put snus in my upper lip, and it happens almost every day I use it.

    Anyone else have this issue??

What kind of snus are you using?
When it's my time to go, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle did....... Not screaming in terror like his passengers

      Have you used dip before?

Snus causes very mild symptoms, if any (minor tooth ache, occasional gum sores, long-term gum recession). This could be something independent of your snus use.

Never really had that. I get bits of skin that I can bite off, but I've always had that; it's a bad habit of mine. Snus has increased the delicious morsels slightly, but not really all that much.

Never experienced or read about that issue. I mean little pieces like LX mentioned yes, but not what you are describing. Like SnusDog, I am curious what "snus" you are using and wondering if you can think of anything else that might be causing it (like using everclear for mouthwash)? Honestly I'd be seeking out a non biased dentist if it were me. Good luck! Keep us posted, and Welcome to SnusOn!

              Welcome to snuson.

it sounds like the beginning synthoms of zombieism. Next your body will start to stiffen up and you won't be able to close your eyes or your mouth. Good luck with that.

              have a good holiday
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

Sometimes, especially with los, it seems like certain brands of snus can be more abrasive than others. I love General Original Los but it will tear at my gums if I use it for too long. You might try and switch to mini portions or pack your pris very lightly for a while. My other recommendation would to be use Northerner/Oomph for a few days to let your gums recover.

Isn't that from the fiberglass in the snus? That's what my mommy always told me.

                  Oh, and welcome aboard!

When I first started, I tried many different kinds of snus. For the better part of 2 years, I used Jakobssons Icedfruit and had no problems until around the last 6 months I used it, when this started happening. In the last 2 months, I switched to Offroad Frosted because of the price increase, and then it started getting even worse, up to present when it seems to be happening everyday now. Now I am getting worried, since no one else on here seems to have ever had the problems I am having...........

I heard some snus contains remnants of the chernobyl blast because the manufactures want you to glow after using it... I'm just saying...

First, please answer if you've used dip before.

Second, it could be irritation from pouch material. The reason why a lot of people here are skeptical of snus being the problem is that it is the least harmful tobacco product out there and symptoms like those you described don't happen. The best way to eliminate snus as a factor would be to change one aspect of your oral habits (i.e. stop using snus for a month, switch to lös snus for a month, etc).

Are you sure it is the snus? I searched the net and it also looks like a couple of things could cause the symptoms you are describing.

Lets hope it is from oral sex and not some other cause!

I hate feeding trolls, if this is what this is...but for anyone else interested...check your toothpaste. I seriously had sloughing of skin going on while using Crest Pro Health. Not saying that toothpaste is bad, it just didn't work for me.
