    Nicotine after meals

I can have no urge for tobacco before I eat, but as soon I'm done with a meal the nicotine craving comes on strong. It was the same way when I was a smoker.

Does anyone else experience this or have any insight as to the reason?

Yah not sure what causes this. I often times want a snus, particularly when I have eaten a BIG meal, the kind that kind slows you down and makes you a little tired. When i'm stuffed I automatically want a snus for some reason.

I have this all the time. It's very normal. Smokers have it especially.

I've heard nicotine affects metabolic rates. I've also heard that for some it aids in digestion in relaxation. I don't know of a link to any scientific abstract but I'm sure there's many out there.

There is certainly science-based data that indicates that nicotine is a stimulant. As such, functions of your body (in this case digestion) will respond to the nicotine. I would guess you're like me and your body has learned to crave stimulation to the digestion process once you've eaten. Yet another brilliant side effect of snus......keeps you 'regular'!

I would say it keeps you more than regular.

My guess is your palate is cleaned by the food, so a cigarette or snus tastes extra special good after eating. I dunno about cravings. When I smoked, I always smoked, and now I always have snus in. It's hard to say in that regard :^D

3 major "after" cravings of snus..... After Waking, After Meals, and After Sex.

Never fails, those are the times when I want it most.

It would also make sense that when you begin to absorb food it reduces the concentration of nicotine in your blood stream so you have a craving to get the level back up.

Food increases your dopamine levels, as the same with snus. So the snus after food feels especially good because your brain releases a lot of dopamine (and probably a lot of other chemicals together with that)! I have the same as you guys as well.

                          Yeppers. Same here.

After dinner I usually have a portion with a hot cup of tea.

I definitely recognize those three, although strangely, the "after sex cigarette" completely vanished for me at some point when I was still a smoker. Not sure why, as my girlfriend is a smoker, and nothing else had changed. Those other two, though, are musts!

+1 I read this somewhere as well. It is tied to dopamine levels.
