Too paranoid about the health risks

Had the same problem when I started smoking. Really loved running. Hope I will be able to run again now that I started using snus insteadOriginally posted by fishmeat View PostI quit smoking due to health reasons. I chose snus due to the fact that everything I had tried before failed me. Cancer runs in the family so quitting for me is very personal. I agree, I think you are being a little bit paranoid about the "health risk" with snus. The Sweds have studied this stuff for years and years...I feel so confident in those studies I have a bet with my close friend that when and IF I get any form of cancer directly related from snus, I would give him $500. I used to be able to run for miles, then I started to smoke. Then I couldn't go any further than down the road maybe 6-10 houses down. Since I have quit smoking and just use snus...I can run again.

Well one thing is for sure, I'm done smoking. I was tired of finding the smoking spot, being the only one to excuse themselves from the crowd, having terrible breath, bad smelling clothes, couldn't exercise well because I couldn't breath, etc.etc...
The one thing I LOVE about snus so far is how I can use it anywhere I want. Without anyone knowing. That good ol' tobacco taste as I run my tongue over the pouch just to get a little extra flavor. You don't know how much I hated going out to smoke. After awhile it seemed like I was smoking that cigarette just for the stress that was caused for finding a smoking spot in the first place. (ESPECIALLY AIRPORTS, GOOD GOOD that sucked) I was about to fly to Washington State from Atlanta. I couldn't make it to the smoking room in time. I sat on that damn plane for 7 hours waiting to run off the plane and straight to the smoking section. Way too much stress.
I'd much rather pop a snus pouch in and relax while watching the crappy movies they play on the flights.

I used to snus, but had to switch to a low TSNA dip because of PACT. I check my gums occasionally, but not as much as I should.
Although lately I've been checking more. My brother-in-law had to have a small leukoplakia removed from his gumline. Now his gumline has receeded to the extent that they are going to graph tissue from the roof of his mouth back to his gumline. He's only 29 and has dipped for about 15 years.
I've never experienced gum pain, maybe some slight recession, but I do have that white striated area on the lining of my cheeks.
I only snus'd for about a year, so do you any of you long term snusers have that striated looking area on your cheeks?

For the most part. The safest dip available has a TSNA of 7.5 ppm vs. Snus at 2 ppm. But dip can get as high as triple digit parts per million. But there is more pieces to the puzzle than just TSNA. But if I could afford snus, I would snus.Originally posted by jdman321 View PostWell dip is a lot more harmful than snus, correct?

how much does that dip cost per tin/pouch and how many pinches do you get?Originally posted by NonServiam View PostFor the most part. The safest dip available has a TSNA of 7.5 ppm vs. Snus at 2 ppm. I think Snus is cheapest, except for snuff. That is just what I think though. I like both and use the together. Average pack of cigs 5.50 RYO when you factor everything in is still high and not as safe. Ecigs well I don't know but then I haven't found any I think I could afford on a regular basis. Ecigs the few single use ones I have tried choke my lungs.Originally posted by EricHill78 View Posthow much does that dip cost per tin/pouch and how many pinches do you get?

I bought an E-cig last week (NJOY) and came with 2 cartridges, USB charger, and the main part (battery). Each cartridge lasts for 300 puffs. I've been puffing away for the past week and haven't had to use the second cartridge yet. All of that was 20 bucks.
A refill pack, which contains 5 cartridges good for about 1,500 strong puffs is $19.99 at 7-11 as well.

Thank You for the info: Probably would still hurt my lungs though.Originally posted by jdman321 View PostI bought an E-cig last week (NJOY) and came with 2 cartridges, USB charger, and the main part (battery).
