What's the difference?

Mental illness is physiological. Emotions are physiological. Your thoughts and feelings and desires and hopes and values are all physiological. Humans are just animals, so why does it seem weird that 'lower' animals have similar problems we do?

Some people in this thread seem to think mental illness is some vaporous mysterious thing that happens to people for no apparent reason.
