Should I worry about my mouth and upper lip?

        Hi guys!

Thought this is the best way to get some help. Here's the story... a few days ago I had a cold and got over it.. but yesterday, the temperature rose and i'm on bedrest now. Throat is a bit sore too, but this are usual symptoms for flu. I woke up today and went to brush my teeth, then I realised, all of my upper lip was kinda messed up. The big vessel in my upper lip was quite sensitive too (it only gets sensitive when i put snus on it, not near it). And quite everything in upper lip is sensitive and gums are inflamed.

So I don't know what to do? My friend said it might be related to the hole temperature and weak body immune system. I've done snus for over 3 years and this is the first time I see this kind of ...madness. It's quite hard to eat or drink anything, but I can handle that. My dentist appointment is in 4 days, should I try to move it sooner? Or just hope for the best?

I'm quite worried up here.. Thanks guys, who replies and knows about this problem.

It might be due to the medications that you're taking.

Certain medications will inflate your gums, I've seen it in some hospital patients once. I'm not sure what type of medication though.
I don't think you should worry all that much, and see a dentist if the problem persists.

It can't be the medicines, I usually use the same stuff.. Coldrex (takes fever down) and some sucking candies (what's the better word ?), which help my throat. And I drink a lot of tea... It usually gets me going in a few days... But I hope to receive some more answers and then decide, maybe I'll go to Emergency Dentist tomorrow, thanks man.

Seems to me that you have a simple inflammation/infection of your upper lip and gum, probably due to the flu you had. I wouldn't worry too much, but obviously, you should refrain from putting snus there for a while and go see a doctor about it. Keep us posted.

What kind of snus are you using? It could be an allergic reaction. Göteborgs Rapé causes some people to have reactions. I think it's just you being sick though.

Most likely, the gum irritation is due to snus, not the flu. After two years of using snus, I developed a white patch on my upper lip. My dentist diagnosed me with leukoplakia, which is often called a "snus induced lesion" or "dipper's lip". No worries though -- leukoplakia, at least in snus users, is not an indication of oral cancer risk. In matter of fact, over 90% of daily snus users develop oral lesions at some point in their life. My suggestion: switch to portions (if you use los) and avoid high nicotine, pH varieties.

I ve been using snus for almost three years and never had any issues in my gums , but this week i dont know why , my gums are sore, both sides, exactly where i place my portions. i will give my upper lip a rest this weekend and see if things will be better on monday.

I only use portion snus and I'm doing Thunder Frosted daily... for about a year now?

What this guy said...also Thunder Frosted, for me irritates the hell outta my gums. Maybe try a different portion?

I can only handle Thunder Frosted ES once in the morning, then it's the 8mg nicotine from there on out.

My gums get inflamed when I sick. Snus exacerbates it for sure, but they're inflamed anyway, regardless of snus. I don't know what they look like, but sometimes they hurt like a SOB.

Well, I've got a lot smarter past few days. Turns out that snus has nothing to do it, so snusers, don't be afraid.

But, my dentist said it's mouth catarrh or mouth's mucous membrane infection (quite hard to translate, when you're not native)... well anyway, it should take me more then a week to get okay.

I can live with out snus, but to be honest, I'm having really hard time to eat anything, even yoghurt... so "yay me".
