I occasionally get sores on the roof of my mouth. Not sure what causes them, but cereal, and pizza can exacerbate the condition. I got them before I started snus. I'll get something like that every couple months, and it's gone in a few days.

        Yellow spot?

        Hey all,

I dont know if i should be afraid, but.

I used snus for some weeks, but then my local ''dealer'' closed. (I live in EU) and then i stopped because i cant get any snus (really want to have some)

But meanwhile i used snus i took more care of my mouth. And a day i checked the gums, and where i put the snus i saw a little round yellow/white spot. Its hard to see and i dont know if it has come because of the snus use. its right over my ''corner'' tooth and i cant feel anything when i touch the spot. Its just very small round cirkel which looks yellow.

        thanks

Leukoplakia. It'll get better with time, but it's nothing to worry about.

Dunno. I think it's just a color variance. I'd wait awhile(1-2 months), and if it doesn't go away, see a doctor. I'm assuming it's where you usually put your snus?

I used to get irritation when I used 90-95% white portions. I've made the switch fully to OP's and loose and maybe a white every few days and haven't experienced this in a while.

Well, yes i keept/keep changing tje snus from Right to left side. And it is in left side the little cirkel is, so yes, it is at the spot where i keep snus.

Sounds like it could be a cold sore? Could be coincidental.

I've never developed any sort of pain, sores, etc. from snus use, over the past few years of use.

Hi, my husband has used american snuff for 15 years. He developed a pouch in the area he placed the snuff abc wad forced by me to quit. Basically the detest had me so concerned about mouth cancer it was a mess. After the spot healed up 5 months later he started chewing again. He has been using Copenhagen pouches. About a can every 3 days of pouches compared to 2 cans a day if the loose Copenhagen wintergreen long cut. I have done a ton if research on Swedish snus. Can anyone show ms medical proff that snus is safer than American dip. I have realized I cant make him quit bc he enjoys it way to much, I just want him to do the safest form of tobacco out there. I would appreciate any reassurance you can give me as a worried wife.

Scientific proof? That'll be hard to come across. Dip is safer than it used to be. It's slowly been coming into line with Swedish snus. Anecdotally, we have some long term dippers on the board that have said snus is much easier on the gums than dip was. I never used dip much, so I don't have a frame of comparison.

Definitely have your husband switch to the snus.. its been known too much of that dip, u can get the aids.

Changing sides is always recommended and at this point seems necessary.

Maybe the main reason I stopped oral tobacco is my gum recession... I do not believe my use was it's cause, but I don't think it would be good for it... I was in my 40's then, and with some health issues like diabetes which I read can affect the gums... so I didn't like the idea of putting anything up on my gums, be it a snus portion, a pinch of dip, a chaw of chew, or a grass pulled from the lawn, or shredded paper from the shredder... I'm older now, and I have not had any teeth fall out, and my mouth looks way better than others I have seen.... I still think about re-visiting it, but I don't want to be a daily addict, if I could just enjoy it once in a while..

Worst case......your teeth fall out and you have to move to Alabama where you fit right in
When it's my time to go, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle did....... Not screaming in terror like his passengers
