    Snus as an antiseptic?

I'm not trying to stretch for more reasons to use/validate snus - it is still a tobacco product - but I was curious if anyone has read anything about the salt content of snus acting as an oral antiseptic, aka. a mouth cleanser.
I'm just remembering grandma's old "gargle with saltwater" theory, and considering the fact that snus has a considerable amount of sodium chloride (salt), it seems that holding it in your mouth for as long as we do may have some positive affects.

This from Wikipedia- "Salt and Baking soda are among materials that can be substituted for commercial toothpaste."

Actually tobacco was used as a topical analgesic by many native tribes. I have found using nasal snuff on mosquito bites to be quite effective. Technically tobacco I think has some antiseptic properties as well, well more specifically the nicotine does.
