snus or dip/chew doesnt enter the body either...

the TSNAs enter the body... I guess they're right about the snuff... it gives the nastiest nausea if used in larger quantities

I'm not concerned. I've done a lot of searching, and haven't found any indication that western snuffs are terribly bad for you. I'll happily use the smokiest snuff you give me, even though I'm sure it's chock full of TSNAs, as well as other stuff from production process. There's more to the equation than TSNAs. Quantity used, placement, force of placement... all factor into the risk of a product. Islay scotch, cured swine, and walking outside are all bad for you too, but I'm not gonna quit any of that stuff either ;^)

Is all islay scotch expensive? I have always wanted to try it but every kind I see is well over $100 a bottle. Not sure I even see many in stores.

There's a wide range of prices. If you see it, give McLellands(sp?) a try. It should be around $20 a bottle, and it's very good for the price. It's a Morrison-Bowmore product, and is on the sweet, sherry casked side of the Islay equation. Very approachable for a newcomer. Otherwise, there should be plenty of choice in the $40-$60 range. Laphroaig is a favorite of mine.
The other Mclelland products aren't as good imo, but the Islay is.

excellent find bigblu. I will be throwing away my brutons at once. This makes me hesitant to continue using any snuff. on a good note though I love some red man chew and it appears to be safer than snus

You might want to look up the ingredients on that. Traditionally, leaf chew uses sugar as a sweetener. I know most companies use synthetics, at least partially now. Having a sugar compress on your back teeth, which are hard to brush anyway can cause tooth rot.

I wouldn't ditch the snuff if you're using it nasally. Brutons kind of sucks though :^D
