    side-cuts to mouth

i've had side-cuts to my mouth which get sore and worsen. they started being there when i started snussing. if i fall asleep with a portion in they get worse. so basically i just have to pay extra attention to cleaning these two areas. but no matter how much i clean them or if i put vaseline there they just won't go. as long as i snus they are here it seems. anyone else had this?

Is it actual cuts? or just winkling like gator lip?

Might have something to do with the salt content. However slight the addition of regular salt may alter metabolism enough to cause havoc. The skin is a common place for symptoms to occur too. I noticed you enjoy caffeine too from a previous thread. You need to drink volumes of water too. I don't know what you consume but to maintain the proper chemistry for me I need to drink nearly three quarts of the stuff a day. On the other hand if the tobacco juice getting in the cuts would certainly be a quicker influx of nicotine. Heh.

I can live with the cuts/sores and maintain them i am just worried if there is a higher risk for cancer at these spots as exposed to the tobacco juice.

              You Might have angular chelitis.
I had cuts on one side of my mouth that would come and go for about 4-5 months. SNUS juice really stung!!!
Tried many at home tactics but ended up getting a "nystatin" prescription from my dentist. Within 2-3 days problem solved.

Unless it burns like all hell I'm pretty sure it's just gator lip, which can sometimes sting a little.

I think a lack of B vitamins can cause that. Try eating more Marmite.

Hey Ansel.. Where are the "cuts"? You have two gland openings near the second molars on each side of your mouth. (submandibular glands)Sometimes you can get build up in them when your dehydrated and they can protrud a little. N they do they can get aggravated and feel like cuts in the mouth. Salt can be a aggravating factor to this and so can a pouch of snus.. Could also be that your constantly rubbing the sides of your cheek with the corner of the pouch..

Nystatin could be fine but usually we use Biotene for mouth ulcers/dehydrated mouth symptoms. Nystatin is more for like thrush and tends to kill off some of the good bacteria in the old chomper...

                          Good Luck..

Throw in a Northerner and let it heal up...
