ERIC: Yes but there are still the same main ingredients that are found in other snus's (trying to rule out the propylene glycol) and there is also smoke flavor in ettan as well which MIGHT be an issue.
MONKEY: Yeah if I take a few days off I'd like to see how long it takes before the dryness comes back.
THINGS I DO KNOW:
1.)Portions cause way more dry throat/irritation than loose (I have for sure noticed this)
2.)American loose dip from what I can tell does not contain propylene glycol (almost all american pouches do contain it though) and I used to use grizzly loose with no dry throat issues
3.)I am not allergic or have had a reaction to any foods that I have ever come in contact with, and I'm Lebanese, we eat everything :-)
4.)I snus 1 time a day, and almost all the way around the clock, I have some sort of dry, sore, or scratchy throat.
5.)It is def something in the snus causing the issue
6.)As I think about it I believe the dry throat started as soon as I started snusing but originally thought it was from allergies
7.)Since day one I have gone through odens original, skruf xtra sterk loose, skruf slim xtra portions, ettan, general, general xtra sterk, grovsnus, gbr, prima flint, granit, 06 portions, thunder raw, and some others.
8.)When doing one massive pris (every now and then 2/day) and leaving it in for a while, it takes me about 7-8 days or so to kill the can.
9.)I smoke hookah tobacco that contains gylcerin (some brands contain di-propyl glycerin (spelling?)) and I never get dry throat from any hookah tobacco.
Searching online it seems as though many people have dry throat side effects from propylene glycol, especially e-cig smokers. Question is, is my dry throat from that (sure seems like it?!)
Guess I will just take a few days off until the dry throat is gone, and just try to start ruling out diff ones, if multiple straight flavor snus's cause issues for me that don't have smoke flavor, juniper, or rose oil, I assume it is the propylene glycol ...
Also, I think the best way to describe what I am feeling is my throat/esophagus feels like it has been burned.
You know when you take a bite of something and go to swallow and it burns your throat? You are left with a scratchy feeling that feels dry, uncomfortable, and almost like your throat is partially closed or narrow.
Maybe you're just not used to it yet. At one a day it might take longer for your body to adjust to the snus. But yeah drink a lot with it might help. Good Luck!
I mean it gets ridiculously dry, I have to have a cough drop in my mouth all day, and constantly drink or else it is incredibly uncomfortable. I haven't had one since WED night, I will prob wait till FRI night or SAT night, whenever I feel 100% and will give a snus a try that has no smoke flavoring in it and go from there.
10 or 11 of the 13 snus's I have tried, all contained smoke flavor, if smoke flavor bothers some peoples throats it is the first thing I should try, once 100% i will try probably the thunder es frosted and use that solely and see what happens.
From the way my throat feels I def feel like it is a reaction/side effect to something in the snus.
I tried not swallowing with a couple different brands and still roughed up my throat, it has to be the smoke flavor.
But like I said, the worst case by far was yesterday with the grov svart. A lot of people say the white portions dry their mouth out more than typically, that could be part of the problem too I suppose.
Just gonna try los only, and brand/flavors excluding smoke flavoring and take it from there.
Oh and I am not on any meds, so the side effect of dry mouth with meds does not pertain to me.
I will update you guys when I start snusing again!
Try some Ettan. It's as plain as you can get. (That's why I like it - just tasty tobacco) If even that dries out your throat, maybe snus isn't for you.
Are you using nasal snuff at the same time? That can dry people out if they aren't using it properly.
Ettan has smoke flavoring in it which is what I am thinking is giving me the dry throat.
No, not using any snuff.
Assuming I spit, I don't see how dip gave me no issues but snus does. Only thing that seems to be COMPLETELY different between the 2 is smoke flavoring, all the dips I used never had smoke flavoring in them. Once this irritated throat clears up (prob by tomorrow) I will get it figured out!
It delivers medium strong nicotine kicks (6 mg/portion) together with a well-rounded and fresh flavor that incorporates tones of lavender, herbs and berries topped hints of spruce and flavors from the Nordic flora. ...
