Hi. I'm fairly new to snus. I put in an order from Northerner a few years ago in college and really enjoyed it, but was afraid of getting hooked at the time and only tried two or three pouches from each can before throwing it away. Now I want to get into it again because I do find it very enjoyable. I live in a very rural area that doesn't have UPS delivery, so because of PACT I can't get Swedish snus delivered. I'm moving to a more urban area in a few months, so I'll be able to switch to real Swedish snus then, but the past few days I've been using the Skoal snus. Obviously the flavor isn't as good as I remember from the brands I tried in college (Lucky Strike, Catch, and what was then Wise), but it's still enjoyable. I am worried, however, that the Skoal snus might be less safe than the Swedish snus. Does anyone know the TSNA levels in the Skoal and how it compares to real Swedish snus? Am I safer just throwing away the rest of my can and waiting until I move in June and can get the better stuff delivered or is it (relatively) safe to enjoy the Skoal in the meantime? Right now I plan on just using a pouch a day after dinner, but knowing how nicotine addiction can be, I'm not sure how feasible that is in the long run.

don't worry about it. if you are going to use a can a day for forty years, you stand a better chance of cancer with the american stuff. people like to worry about that stuff, but i'm sure something else will kill you.
we are very hesitant here to encourage new users, so i must say that if you can, you're best to stay away from tobacco entirely.

There is more to the equation than just TSNA..............I would stay away from dip..............just for the fact that it will turn your lip into beef jerky...............
but really..............I would think long and hard about flirting with any kind of addiction.......especially one that is so expensive………….......Not to sound patronizing or anything……….........but it's just good to watch how the green breaks for the fellow putting ahead of you
We will be glad to help in any way………..and you will certainly be welcome here at snuson (tobacco or no tobacco)……………just think it through a bit

I use Skoal snus quite a bit. It is pasteurized (just like Swedish snus) and has lower salt and nicotene levels than most Swedish versions. The tobacco in the Skoal is heavily flavored and the taste, IMO, lasts longer than most Swedish brands. It is also MUCH sweeter than Swedish brands; however, the sweetness is not sugar so you don't have to worry about rotting your teeth away!
If you do decide to continue using snus, I would recommend that you stay away from the high nic brands. IMO, the more nic you consume, the greater your resistance becomes and you will find yourself using more and more snus as time proceeds in order to get that "nic fix."
If you do decide to continue use, focus on Purified Portions offered by Northerner. Low nic and very few TSNA's.
Oh, and by the way, welcome. If you have any problems with my posts or signature
