Filled. The hot water feels good against the chills, and it seems to sweat it out. That makes no scientific sense that I know of, but I like baths anyway. It's probably just a time thing, and the fever would have gone down anyway.

Kevin, my girl asked me today: why are you googling vodka socks??

Precious: Antibiotics don't kill viruses, they kill bacteria. 'Nuff said.

What ever happened to the tried and true Tylenol? See my first answer. I don't beat off to Western medicine, but I do believe that acetaminophen and ibuprofen are two very simple and widely available methods of fever reduction.

And Kevin again... I wear socks when I sleep every night. Hell I wear socks ... all the time.

In any case, y'all are weird.
I'm not sure if it's a virus or a bacteria lol

I'll try ibuprofen if the fever starts again though and see how it goes.

So far the vinegar and vodka socks worked very well

Along with a full body massage with either vinegar or vodka.

Just an FYI that taking antibiotics every time you feel sick is going to destroy the healthy bacteria in your stomach. There is recent research that shows that even occasional exposure to mild antibiotics can seriously (and permanently) damage your gut. I wouldn't take them unless a Dr has identified your sickness as bacterial in nature.

As for the Vodka socks, lathering yourself in vinegar and sleeping in bathtubs, Lol @ all of you. Whatever works I guess.

Doctors just recommend paracetamol for fever over here. Seems to work well.

Gonna use this as an excuse to get drunk next time i'm sick.

Wife: Why are you drinking again?!!?! You're sick!

              Me: I'm sweating it out!

Why reduce the fever? I can understand if you have a 40 degree celsius one, but 38? It sounds your treating yourself from cancer, haha. Having a fever is actually a good thing. It helps make an unwelcoming habitat for the virus/bacteria in the body.

38.6 C is quite unpleasant and quite high

                  at 40 C - 41 C you're already in danger and probably hallucinating

I'm not sure if having fever is good but just came across this post and wanted to update it a little -

so I've been having the flu ever since I published this thread - is it normal? has anyone had the flu for almost 4 weeks?

I remember having fever when I was a child for one month daily - but never since then -

I am starting to believe that this is a nasty influenza - I never had it so bad -

Antibiotics are pretty much useless if it's a virus (they only kill the bacteria) so what to do then?

I'm kinda getting worried by now because almost everyone I know has the flu this year (almost everyone) and I believe we're dealing with a nasty virus in this area ....

Think, now it's time for moving from vodka socks to drinking vodka in various quantities.
I was ill for around 2 weeks in beginning of February and still have bit of runny nose...

Because I have 2 bottles of smirnoff and one bottle of rum (captain morgan)

                        lol
