I know other dental posts exist but lemme celebrate today's appt with my own thread...pretty please??? I quit snus about 2 weeks ago mainly due to not having reordering my favorite...quitting was fairly easy without my beloved snus on hand. Anyway, I had chain snussed for over 4 years and I am reporting my dental exam findings today since many people wonder about the oral effects of snus. Everyone is different, results will vary, but I know I like to read no BS personal experiences with snus. Here goes - I originally went to the dentist last month because I broke a molar..I am a clencher/grinder and attribute this break to that. Long story short, I had to get a root canal and a crown, I was also due for an exam which was completed today...
This was the most in-depth exam I have ever had and none of the procedures were requested, they were just done..I had the normal full mouth x-rays, a cancer scan and each tooth's gumline was measured, front and back. I have no abnormal recession, I guess some recession is a given as we age. No lesions or anything..just a couple tiny cavities in between molars in the way back, where I never placed snus. No cavities near the front of my mouth where I used snus. The hygenist told me several times that my mouth looked very good, no tartar build-up anywhere. I floss, brush, mouthwash and use a pick daily to scrape my teeth. Once a week I use a waterpik to really get into the crevices.
The conclusion...Swedish snus is good for teeth! Snuson everyone and remember to scrub those teeth and switch up snussing sides! I will be coming out of my snus retirement because something I have waited years for has finally been released...a frickin apple-cinnamon snus!! It better not suck!
