Snus after tooth extraction?

Hello everyone,

I had a tooth taken out today,one of the ones at the bottom at the back of my mouth.I am still numb right now but am beginning to feel the effects of the anesthetic wearing off.

Now, as I've got what appears to be an open wound in my mouth do you think it would be O.K to have a prilla or or maybe two a little bit later on? The dentist did say I shouldn't smoke for 24 hours which I don't anyway but I'm wondering if that would apply to snus as well? I didn't bother asking the dentist as I'm sure she would have advised against it anyway regardless of knowing what snus is or what the effects are etc, you know what dentists/doctors are like.

At the moment I don't really feel like having any snus but later after I've had a bite to eat I think I might, I could maybe put a fat prilla right on top of where the tooth used to be so the nicotine has easy access into the bloodstream that would be the ultimate nicotine rush.

But seriously do you guys think it'd be O.K, not at the back but just at the front under the top lip?

I had a tooth removed about a year ago. It was a far back upper tooth. I waited about 6 hours before I popped in a portion. I didn't have any problems at all. 2 weeks ago I had a tooth crack up on the lower far back. The dentist drilled all the shit out of it, filled the hole and put a cap on it. I waited about 2 hours before I put a portion in. No problems for me in either case. I would try to limit your use for a few days to portions and place it far away from the wound. From my experiance I would say you should be ok to use.

Thanks for that, I've only got los but I'll make some portions using teabags and use those for a few days to avoid any particles getting near the blood clot.

I would stick with portions whilst the wound is still open so you don't get any bits of snus in there and as PP said place the portions out of the way of the wound so that it can heal.

I feel the same way, whats the point...they'll just spout clichés about the evils of tobacco.

I used it when I had a tooth out. Los is different though. You know - in your case I might have a day on the cigars.

Smoking is a bad idea after an extraction as you can get a dry socket infection or whatever it's called. Snus portions would be better.

I used both portions and los after an extraction with no problems. Just like someone mentioned earlier, I didn't ask the dentist because she would advise me not to use snus no matter what the circumstances.

DO NOT SMOKE AFTER GETTING A TOOTH PULLED!!! This is a lesson that I learned the hard way, back when I smoked. A dry socket hurts so freaking bad, faaaaar worse than a bum tooth. Snus use however, is good to go ;-)

Wouldn't it be great if you could convince dentists to pass out snus to their patients who smoke?

I am having a tooth pulled next week. I plan to use nasal snuff for a while and/or to bum an electronic cig from my son.

Does anybody have any experience with PG-nicotine after extraction?

Well, my "7" was pulled out without any real nightmares or too much pain. I used the first portion a couple hours after the extraction (when my face stopped being numb) and no problems whatsoever were caused. Hooray!

(I used the "purified" portions. I am still using them tree days after the extraction, just to be on the safe sife. Besides, they are yummy)
