So I'm done.. Abdomin pain question

K so I smoked my last cig may 31st 2012 (3 days ago lol) and Started last night i've gotten this weird stabbing pain on my right side right below my breast bone. Reading up it sounds like gallstones however I have no shouler pain or nausea or fever or jaundice (basically no other symptoms).

I don't really have the money to go to the ER and I'm already around $3,000.00 in debt to them anyway so does this sound like something I should be worried about or possibly a side effect of no smoking and snusing instead.

I know this isn't a health board however I ask here because I know a lot of you have experience with quitting and snusing and those are the only things changed in the past few days

I'm not sure I had the same thing since i was quitting my heavy ->dip<- adiction, and I have no clue what it was but I had some pain in the area described after I quit, 11 days later and I haven't had it since.

      Congratulations, first and foremost!

Sounds like 'good pain' to me, your lungs might be healing themselves after whoever long you smoked for.

BUT... as you allude to, we can't give you medical answer/advice. I recommend you see your doc

Without unloading a diatribe all over this thread, I seriously think you guys need healthcare reform, this 'debt' you have is a ridiculous concept IMO.

I agree.. The worst part is all that debt is over 1 x ray and a CT scan.. both revealing nothing

I have no idea, but if it were me, I'd sit on it awhile, and see what happens. I wouldn't necessarily take my medical advice to heart. I avoid doctors as much as possible, and only go when it's absolutely necessary. That way saves money and aggravation, but it can also delay the treatment of serious illness, so it's your call. I'm still alive, so it's worked so far :^D

Doctors don't know everything. A good doctor will always project the illusion of knowing everything, but many times they're just guessing, and problems clear up on their own regardless of what the doctor does. It then goes on the list of "fixed" problems. I guess what I'm saying is make sure there's really a problem before you go. It might just be "one of those things", and will work itself out on its own.

Something similar happened to me, 2 days after I had started to snus, and after I had not smoked a single cigarette all day long. In my case, it felt very clearly like lung pain though, not unbearable, but very strong. And yes, I really hate to visit doctors.

So, I was a bit disturbed to get lung pain just after I had quit my chainsmoking habit, but soon decided to just smoke a cigarette again. The pain immediately went away (and luckily never came back). That was the last sign for me to get rid of cigarettes for good. I'm sure that cigarettes are filled with painkillers so smokers don't notice how they slowly but steadily destroy their health.

If my memory serves me well, that "painkilling" cigarette was a regular Marlboro Filter.

Brutecraft, my advise for you would be to smoke a cigarette. Even if my painkiller-theory is wrong, your pain could as well be a strange reaction of your body to the abrupt and major changes when switching to snus. If the pain does not go away or if it grows stronger, make sure to visit a doctor better sooner than later.

            Good luck!

I thank you for your advise chainsnuser. However right now I openly admit I'm far too weak to smoke "1" I've been trying to quit now for 3 weeks and this 3 day stint is the longest i've gone in my 3 years of smoking...

Hopefully it goes away on its own.. if not I will end up going to an ER and probably adding another $1,000.00 dollars to my debt at 22 years old.

I do agree this is lung pain though.. since I just worked out and noticed it got far worse whenever I exhaled heavily. Hopefully it clears up.

Happened to me. Your lungs are getting rid of the crap already. It doesn't last long but will re occur.

The healing process can be painful.

Check out your stool as well, if you have any greasy like stool.

Didnt have that problem when i switched from dip so it sounds like a quitting smoking thing. You're still getting nicotine but not smoking so your body may be confused. I'm certainly not a medical expert by any means though.

Brute, hang in there and don't have another smoke. A smoke now might feel good but it will only prolong your misery. Please make sure you are drinking lots of water and do activities like puzzles to keep your mind focused elsewhere. I don't remember where but I did see an article about water helping when you are quitting cigs.
