    Too Often?

For the past month or so, I've been using between 1-3 portions a day (General White, Wintergreen, or Mint) without an issue. Since I started work last week, however, I've been snussing almost constantly. I'll keep a portion in my lip for up to two hours (usually because I'll forget). I've had some gum irritation recently, worse with the Wintergreen. I switch sides every portion. Is it possible to be snussing too much?

I've had a nicotine overdose a couple of times, that's a bit unpleasant. However, is there such a thing as snussing too much? Your body will let you know when you've had too much snus, gum irritation can be kinda normal, you can get over that by switching sides

I'd say that if you stick one in and don't feel the nicotine, you don't need it......but you don't have to abide by that. It's just a guide.
For me, the other guide for knowing you've had too much is when you start feeling grim. That usually happens to me if I've done nearly a tin of Extreme in a day.

It's not the nicotine, I do feel it every time. And I know the feeling of too much. My problem is my gums. Is this a per-person basis? How resilient one's gums are?

You will get some gum recession by using snus - that's one of downsides. Hopefully it should calm down at a certain point and not get any worse. You develop what we call a snus pocket.

Yes, the old gums i'm in my 6th year now with snus, at first they really did play up and get very sore when i used portions. Only thing i can say is switch sides with each portion you have. Do you use los, if so, how's that on the old gums ?

Should I work up to it? As in not just jumping into using a tin and a half a week? And I have some los at home, I need to rehydrate it. I could try it out. I like the portions because they're neater, though :/

I don't think you really need to work up to it. Look after your oral health though by brushing your teeth etc. But from the start i've always had a portion in pretty much all day.

Well, if you NEED the nicotine it's going to be hard to work up to it, because you need it. If you don't need so much nicotine, i'd say try and get by with as little as you need. At my worst i was having a fresh one every 45mins for 16 hours a day. If you try and keep your nicotine tolerance down, you'll save money for sure, and for me, i enjoy it more not having such a high nicotine tolerance.

I think your gums will get used to it over time. I switch my snus out every hour or so and always sleep with it. So it's there pretty much 24/7. Once in a while I'll burn my gums out and it will be sore but usually just one side. I switch sides every time unless one side is sore (not very often). I use a lot of extra strong loose in the evenings which probably contributes to gum soreness. But really I wouldn't worry much about it. I've been doing this for almost 4 years now.

I started using it less at work, like four-six portions in the past too days and my gums have been feeling better. I have a feeling that the menthol in the peppermint oil that they likely add to flavor the Mint Portion numbed my gums enough so I didn't notice the damage. Good for now

Your body will adjust to it. My first year or so using snus, I had frequent gum irritation. Especially if I'd start & stop using snus. After some time of using it non-stop (daily) the irritation stopped and a nice "pocket" formed in my gums. The pocket has formed, and has not changed in a few years.

I find you use what you need, if that makes sense. Sometimes I have 6 portions a day, sometimes I have 12. On average I'm an hour on, an hour off. I've been snussing for around 3 years and still occasionally get sore spots on my gums. Whether it's snus related or something else, I don't know. Letting that side rest for a day and rinsing with medicated mouthwash (Corsodyl) sorts it out within 24 hours.

It's only too much when you don't feel well anymore
