The irritation from snus is due to salt (drying the lip), Nicotine (absorbed by the lip) and abrasion (especially if the snus is a bit dry or a white portion......it can also be due to the oils certain brands use........a mint or cinnamon oil can irritate the skin).
For example, damp the skin on the back of your hand........put some salt on it........and then mildly rub it for the same amount of time that you keep a portion in.......my guess is you will have a red patch on your hand (and let me just add here before it becomes an issue....SHUT THE HELL UP PP....this is an educational illustration).......
That said your hand will be in no danger of contracting cancer.........the same holds true of snus........neither salt nor abrasion, nor nicotine are carcinogenic.
Move the snus around....... try a different flavor/brand.......make sure it is fresh (or re-hydrate it) and you will be fine
And Damn it Lx..........I saw my Doctor in Walmart today......and asked him for a price check on an item.......and he was clueless...........so thanks for that........When it's my time to go, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle did....... Not screaming in terror like his passengers

Fricking General mint always does that to me. Any strong mint really. Regular stuff doesn't. I usually use ~20 portions per day, and mint is the only kind that gives me any sort of irritation.Originally posted by FrostedI knew he was committed as an actor but I think he went too far in his latest role as Princess Diana

Snus lesion
Hi,
I have been using snus last 4 years. I have a small fingertip size lesion (or even smaller) white round area behind my lip which feels like lizard skin. Does this lesion disappear by time of quitting snus or do I have to be worried about it? It doesnt hurt/burn or anything.

Welcome to Snuson.
I wish I had some advice for you, but I don't. I began snusing in 2005 and I've never seen anything like that.
