Kind of worried... white spot after snus/dip

So on Sunday (4 days ago) I looked in the mirror at my mouth. I noticed a little white spot towards the left backside of my throat. Very small, maybe the size of the tip of your pen, you know when you retract the tip? Lol anyway... seeing this freaked me out, especially seeing as how I am a paranoid person in general.
Here's my history: Smoked/dipped on and off since 16 1/2 years old - 22 years old now. Once I hit 18 or so, I started dipping snuff on a regular basis (1-2 cans a day). At 20, I quit for about 10 months, and then started dipping again for 4 months or so, at about a can a day. Throughout 21-22, I switched off between dipping and snussing. From last september to december, I only used snus. I went to the dentist and got a clean report, which I always do. However, since January, I've been dipping snuff with snus here and there every now and again. It's been about 5 weeks since I've been dipping.
About 2-3 weeks ago I got really drunk and vomited - it was super nasty and got stuck in my throat on the way out, and kind of burned. I was studying abroad last semester, and really happy to see my mates again, so for the last couple weeks we've been drinking a lot and smoking pot, which makes me sick a lot but when I get drunk it seems like a good idea. Anyways, over the past couple weeks I have thrown up around 3 times. During these past three weeks, with the exception of the past several days, I have had a sore throat. However, it went away sometime last week.
On a whim, I checked my throat and saw this spot. What I think is likely to have happened is this: a canker sore/cold sore (which would explain the sore throat that lasted around a week or so) was caused by the frequent vomiting, and the whitish-grey spot is the thing healing (it has stopped hurting). I expect the thing to go away within a week or so. Do you think this is plausible? I can't stop worrying about this.

    What do you guys think?

I think nobody here is qualified to answer this question. Even a doctor would have trouble making a diagnosis over the internet, and it would be irresponsible for any of us (IMO) to try. If it really concerns you go see a doctor.

You're right... regardless of what anybody said here, if it hung around for several weeks I would see a doctor. Guess I just had to let it all out in a post.

Things that give me an occasional white patch somewhere in my mouth.....drinking a lot in one night....and junk food. particuarly any kind of seasoned/salty crackers or chips. I'm not sure the effects of pot but I'm guessing the drying of the mouth wouldnt be a benefit. Your vomiting/sickness could definitely just be a side effect of heavy alcohol and pot use and it is the time of year to get sick. Like I said I get little white or red spots in my mouth usually after i have a lot to drink. Should go away slowly while turning to a color more like the inside of your mouth. if it persists definitely go see a doctor.

Sometimes it's hard to even notice it... and it's so small... I think I'm probably just overreacting, and checking it everyday is making it difficult to see if it is gradually going away (hard to notice small changes day to day). Thanks Thunder.

I definitely dont want to say its nothing. Mine are usually in the cheek area where little bits of cracker and such get stuck but i did have quite a large one in the back of my throat once that took quite some time to go away (I think it was more of a severe burn although i couldnt remember how the hell it happened) Gave me quite a spook for awhile. If you dont see any improvement in say a week I'd definitely see a doctor...or dentist...whoever the hell handles that kind of situation. Early detection is always for the best if it is something serious.

Acid causes burns (thus acid reflux)

              You are throwing up

Stop drinking yourself into a stooper

              or

drink like a fish…………. but stop worrying about esophagus burns

Think: are the white spots where you put the snus/dip....where it is most concentrated………..where it will have the most effect...........or are they removed from that location?

Also think: if you have patchy whites.......a sore throat....and (possibly) a low grade fever……....that is classic strep..............go have a culture done

but to me it sounds like esophagus burns due to acid………. from throwing up

or cotton mouth (dry patches) from the pot

The good news is that at this rate your liver will fail long before cancer has a chance to develop

Bottom line: it is my personal experience that………….. most irritation is due to dumbass……….not cancer

sorry about the curt tone of all the above........it's just that I've been talking to my son tonight.....and it seems to have carried over to here
When it's my time to go, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle did....... Not screaming in terror like his passengers

Could be anything. Cancer is pretty rare but get it looked at if you want. Once the tip of my tounge turned white and really hurt. Turned out to be frostbite. My doc said "cancer dont hurt, man." I really liked that old hippie. He died of cancer not long after that no one knew he had.

Thank you all for your replies. And Snusdog... cold women... LOL. I'm going to go ahead and lay this to rest. I've been looking up cancer statistics all week. The chances are low... and given that I have been using dip on and off, interspersed with periods of either being quit or using snus, for only 5-6 years... given that I've only recently been using dip again... given that I was throwing up and had a sore throat on the left side of my throat (exactly where this thing is), and given that it's not a place that even comes in contact with tobacco that much... I'll quit worrying about it. I'll check again in 2 weeks or so, and if it's still there, I'll head to the doc. Thanks everybody.

Fuark... I can't quit this shit. Just going to snus until I finally nut up and quit. At least snus is a ton healthier.
