Harm Reduction: Snus v. eCigs v. Nasal Snuff

Snus has been around a long time and has a proven track record; however, what about eCigs?

When I vape on a regular basis, I reduce my snus intake by almost two thirds! On vaping days, I usually use only two portions... one in the AM and one in the PM... but damn... those two portions sure are nice... but so is my Aroma WTA P38 ejuice... which I use two or three times a day.

I also take some nasal snuff two or three times a day... and the quality of the nic hit seems better nowadays.

Here's the question... should people just stick to snus or rotate it with vaping and/or nasal snuff?

Honestly bro, that pretty much describes my daily routine. Only more like 3-5 portions a day, snuff occasionally, but sometimes like today, I just have days where I don't feel like it at all. I also vape maybe around 1.5 ml a day. I would say though is do what works for you. All are a hell of a lot better than smoking and all of those, to my knowledge, are relatively low risk.

Heck even if one is maniacally pounding snus, snuff, and vapes the livelong day the total combined harm is still several orders of magnitude less than inhaling a pack of stinkies a day. Combining snus and vaping is a win-win really. The combo reduces one's usage of both unless one is dumb enough to hit both of them heavy at the same time. I sure as hell am not going to have a portion of Oden's Extreme in and be hitting a 24mg juice at the same time. I suppose I can see using some no-nic juice whilst snusing but I personally am not really tempted.

When the budget allows me I´ll be glad to try vaping but for now I do 4-5 portions a day and snuff in between, alternating seems to work for me, it´s good to change between flavor & scent and keep me fed of nic along the day.

Answering the question, for me is a YES, rotate them prevents snus / snuff / vaping alone to get boring-linear.

I distrust artificial flavors, but tolerate them in food. Having a direct injection into lungs doesn't seem wise to me. What happens to the flavors when they're heated? Many compounds will change due to temperature.

What do I know? I'm anti Ecig anyway, and don't care enough to research, so the above should be taken with a truck load of salt.

As in the case of snus versus smoking the relative lack of harm of vaping compared to smoking is what is most at issue for people like me who needed rescue from the often extreme difficulties of quitting the sticks. I could hardly recommend that a non-tobacco user take up vaping as a hobby just as I would not advise anyone to start using snus or snuff for no other reason than the enjoyment it might provide.

Vaping and snusing are all about harm reduction and not harm elimination. Vaping may in fact prove to be more harmful in the long term than snusing but it beggars belief that it is not radically less harmful than smoking in any term whatsoever. Inhaling vaporized food additives and tiny amounts of artificial flavors can under no circumstances remotely compare to the huge toxin loads with which smokers daily besiege themselves. If of course one has no smoking monkey on their back then taking up vaping is pointless and dumb. If however vaping can replace smoking for folks who've had endless trouble quitting with other methods then it must be seen as an entirely rational response that, anyway you slice it, is radically less harmful.

Inhaling is totally an option only when using e cigs for nicotine. Its predominantly absorbed thru the mouth or nose. The absorption in lungs is negligable and unneeded.

Snus, Snuff, and Vaping all provide flavorful pleasures for me (insert double meaning jokes here), so I rotate. My daily "kit" is a snus can, 3 or 4 snuff boxes and 2 mods. I love having the choices of the three, knowing that harm reduction is the extra icing on the cake.
