Also keep in mind that terms like harmful and beneficial are abstract and vacuous without context. Any food product in excess can be harmful and to speak of "benifits" requires a larger matrix in which those benifits may be measured and assessed.

As far as snus goes the studies have shown that the product is far safer than cigarettes and thus a viable alternative to smoking.

On its own (without comparison to cigarettes) the best studies have shown that snus does not present any egregious health issues. However, it is addictive and expensive......and therefore one should seriously consider taking up the habit.

One of the things that we try to do here at Snuson is to go beyond the catch phrases (e.g. harmful, beneficial, healthy, not healthy, and etc) term that tend to blur the issue without providing any content or meaning on which to base a conclusion.

Instead, we are looking for studies and insights that are descriptive and concrete....that tell us exactly what "beneficial" means or what the specific documented "health risks" actually are.

In most cases you will find that that the actual research and findings of these studies are very favorable to snus. However, the concluding summations of those studies tend groups snus, dip, and chew together and then proceed to draw a conclusion on these products as a group........however, these products, their manner of production, and the additives allowed in each are not the same and therefore a general conclusion of "oral tobacco" as a group will not provide an accurate reflection of the research done on each constituent part of the group when considered individually.
