How to kill the psychological addiction/habit cravings ?!

Hello to everyone, i tried snus few times so im glad to see this place . Anyway... I want to get help from people who have switched and win with smoking habit. I switched some time ago and get back to smoking after using nothing. Im depressed and my shit life bring me a lot of stress and sadness and i started smoking not just for nicotine bur for habit that is fakely gettinh my
mind somewhere else. Now my attempts to switch survive only 1 day before night comes. I catch myself about being really focused how my addiction works and how i feel during snusing, but when it comes to watching tv in bed at night i am starting to loose my mind for feeling empty. In those moments im very anxcious and feel like missing something so my mind are persuading me that i have withdrawal, but after 3 sterk chain snus ?! I can put another portion but i throw it away because i feel that i have enough nicotine... I really dont know what to do because i will really like to feel normal with snus not a cigarette addiction prisoner... I think its psychological addiction but i for god sake is this have to be so strong like i will give up all tobacco ?! I hope we will talk about it and i will get ready to switch, and maybe help another future ex-smokers. And i can explain more of whats happening to better understand

And of course i miss everything from cigarette. The tase, smell (i know they are terrible but i just get used and "like it") and action of smoking. It cant be a total withdrawal but i remember that the real one i feel by being tired, anxious and have (its strange ) an something like wet, heavy eyes kind of feeling...

Have you tried getting any kind of sleep aid? Anything from melatonin to advil pm. That might atleast let you fall asleep quickly especially if you don't take it on a regular basi already. Is there something else you could substitute for the action of smoking? Could you throw in some snus and then just have a pen in your mouth you can draw on?

My quitting/snus experience has lasted a few years. I will say this, you talk about missing it, as if you might now WANT to quit. You may feel you have to, but maybe not WANT to? And if you do not WANT to quit, nothing you try will succeed. I know, because I have tried quitting numerous times when I really did not want to and failed everytime. But if I read it wrong, then my apologies.

As for my exp. A few years ago I discovered SNUS. I was not looking to quit at the time, but decided to try it. I like it so much, that I began SNUSing more than smoking without even thinking about it. One day I decided, do not buy any cigs, and see how long you can go just snusing. Well, I quit smoking entirely, for a handful of months (I have some e-cig experience as well, but only as a supplement as e-cigs never really helped me quit, so I won't go into that here). For whatever reasons I began part time smoking again, and was pissed, but I liked my cigs too much to stop. I part time smoked for almost a year, when i got bronchitis again last March (I began quitting because I was getting bronchitis every year and ending up in the hospital). Well, getting sick again was like a slap in the face, and renewed my total WANTING to quit. So March 2nd was my last cig, and I am a snusing fiend now, almost always have one in, but i have finally kicked the habit for good (I think) because this time I REALLY WANTED to. A couple of weeks will be 1 year without a cig for me, and I am damn proud of that. I had a handful of strong urges through the last year, but they only last minutes, and then go away, especially with SNUS. So I can deal with them.

So thats my experience. Was not instant success even though I instantly liked SNUS. ANd my battle is not over. But my main point is, you have to REALLY WANT to quit, not just know you have to for health reasons. Good Luck to you.

Snus worked for me to quit cigarettes years ago, after 30 years of smoking. Just keep it in your head that cigarettes are killing you, because they are. Make snus the replacement; the new ritual that smoking was to you. Opening a fresh can is more satisfying than peeling into a new Marlboro cigarette box. It's great after a meal, and you can use it everywhere. You will feel better, smell better, and your teeth stay cleaner (the latter surprised me.). It's very much psychological, because snus will give you the nicotine you crave, you just have to give it a minute. You will eventually think less and less about smoking over time.

Hello Oceter, welcome to Snuson. Here is a medical paper you might find useful. It's fairly long, but I enjoyed it.

"There's a cheap, common, and mostly safe drug, in daily use for centuries by hundreds of millions of people, that only lately has been investigated for its therapeutic potential for a long list of common ills. The list includes Alzheimer disease, Parkinson disease, depression and anxiety, schizophrenia, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and even pain and obesity."

If you write down the pros and cons of smoking, the 'pros' column is pretty thin. Made me feel stupid for ever starting.
BadAxe is right; you have to really want to quit, but life is hard enough. Why add breathing problems. My main concern with snus is falling asleep and choking on it

Agreed. I don't have much room to talk here as I'm within my first few weeks sans cigarettes, but there's something to be said for the small victories. You might not be happy with a few things in your life right now, but being able to thump your chest over a day smoke-free? It's something to build on. Mark and celebrate the small victories before you start worrying about the big ones... the rest takes care of itself.

I understand that but instead how do you manage with "habit cravings". I saw a lot of posts sayin that they still want to smoke and i want to know how to resist it. I think im specific with my addiction, when i needed to stop smoking marijuana i had the same... Remembering of taste, smell and situations when it suits me up. But one day i smoked and feeled bad after it so i just said "ok, it dont give m le a joy, no more..." And i stopped thinking about it. And lot of people say that switching is adjusting to new form, so maybe they had the same as i now... I want a good advice and get joy of snus tastes (ok, i will always need to explain other people what am i doing with my lips ? And for smokers also it will be looking like a really bad drug...)

Also i was thinking about baby stepa, to smoke sometimes when i really need but its failure for all thst fight for me. And if i will have all pack i wont survive... Having something to consume and dont use it is sin for me

Andy, Snus-sleeping gives me wild and vivid dreams. I sleep with snus often. The portion never moves.
