Whats the truth about nicotine absorptiob from snus ?

I really wanna know is it true that only about 20 percent od nic is absorbed from our snus ? I was using strongs and ekstra sterks for some time and i havent felt anything, but after it when i was in bookstore i was near fainting when i crouched for the book, and that was only 8 mg kept for an hour. Anyway, if the death dose is about 60-80 mg, do the 1/4 of loose can will can kill ? I dont mean that i want to get all mouth black but im interested if the all nicotine wilk be absorbed after some hours of keeping it and can the blood reach lecel of 80 mg ?

If you ever smoked, you can compare risks of nicotine in your blood from cigarettes and snus here: Click image for larger version

here is another. I ve calculated that after an hour 10 g will give me about 50-60 mg but what about 20 percent absorption theory ? (We are scientists here )

Nicotine is a drug. When administered, it gives you "buzz". Even if the administered dose is effectively lower. When I smoked, the first morning cigarette used to give me much bigger "buzz" than any snus I used so far. The same goes for spikes in blood pressure and pulse. I did measure those very often at the time I stopped smoking, because my quitting was purely driven by personal health problems.

If you use 10 grams of snus at a time, it would probably cause you to overdose. I would heartily recommend to place much more moderate amounts into your mouth. Having ten pouches under your lip must also be rather uncomfortable. The same goes for alcohol. It is probably OK to have a drink, but it is also strongly recommended not to gulp a pint of gin in one swig. Such behavior carries a risk of unwholesome reactions in your body.

10 grams?!? That is a hell of a dose - roughly 20-40mg of nicotine for regular and quite possibly lethal for something like Oden's Extreme, if the numbers I have seen are correct (i.e., about 2-4mg of nicotine delivered per standard serving). Whatever you are thinking, don't do it.

I think there is a difference between intoxicants and stimulants, I would classify nicotine as the former rather than the latter, much like caffeine is a stimulant and is addictive but I doubt many people place it in the drug category.

They're all arbitrary terms. AFAIC, anything that alters the body state, and doesn't supply nutrition is a drug.

It's impossible to overdose on nicotine when using ordinary tobacco. First you only absorb a part of the nicotine that's present in the tobacco. Second you absorb it quite slowly. Third your body metabolises and disposes the nicotine almost as fast as you absorb it.

Finally, you can of course try really hard, put your mouth full of snus, your nose full of snuff and yes, you can try to smoke some cigarettes at the same time. But you will never reach a lethal dose. It will only make you feel so sick that you stop smoking, and spit and sniff it all out immediately. You wlll feel sick before you even reach one tenth of the lethal dose.

There has never been a single case of nicotine overdosing from tobacco anywhere in the world, as far as I know. It's physically impossible. It's easier to die from drinking too much water too fast.

All the talk about nicotine as a highly toxic poison is nothing but propaganda by anti tobacco zealots (who mostly are just puritan religious nuts, or gullible wimps who have been brainwashed by puritan pseudo-medical propaganda).

                              Cheers!
