        Hell yeah!
I agree with that 100%. I once had a crackhead neighbor who seemed to think I was his personal cigarette machine; It must have been the worst day of his life when I told him I quit.

Well, I'm a new snus user, and like many I was just really looking for a healthier alternative to smoking. I'm 35 and I've been smoking for 15 years or so--and when I was younger I guess my body had the ability to cope with my habit, but now that I'm getting longer in the tooth I'm finding that it's just really impacting me in negative ways. Back then I could smoke a pack a day and still run 5Ks and swim and play ball and all sorts of fun stuff. Now I get winded walking up the stairs to my apartment.

So I was reading about snus at some other forums and decided to order a 10-tin mix from buysnus, and I have to say I really enjoy it and haven't had a smoke in 5 days now. Yay!

I understand that a stronger portion is recommended for those of us who are trying to find an alternative to smoking, and a can of Nick and Johnny was included in my 10 pack, so I thought I'd try it first. I have to say, not only was it nice to be able to ease my nic-fits without having to pop out for a smoke every hour--and I work in a tobacco-free environment--but I really enjoyed the flavor and sensation of it. I understand skruf stark is another strong portion that many people enjoy, so I've gone ahead and ordered some of it. I don't want to risk running out and end up going down to the convenience store for a pack of smokes to "tide me over."

Anyway, I want to thank all of you for the valuable information provided in these forums. Take care!

Two weeks of not smoking and life is great!

I can breath, I can run around a bit and not be winded. It's a cool thing.

I used to inline skate about 20 or so miles a week for fun and ride a bike with my kids about another 20 miles and if I tried that recently, I would have had a heart attack.

For me it was going to bed at night and my heart pounding. It felt like it was going to pop out of my chest some days. I have had a recent doctors visit so I know there wasn't anything major wrong that my doc saw but it was unnerving.

I gained about 50 pounds in the last three years and I was getting so disappointed trying to do anything physical due to decreased stamina.

I used to smoke two packs a day and snus has been like magic for me.

I especially want to say thanks to the great community here. Not that snusing is great because of it, it make it interesting too!

I find that it took me 4-5 tries to quit.

Then I had a cigarette at work one day and had the worst panic attack of my life and ended up in the ER.

I saw it as that cigarette cost me the 750 bucks that visit did.

Plus, I was miserable from repeated tries at quiting and not succeeding.

I am very competetive and hate to lose. Thats got me into a lot of verbal arguments, strained freinships and almost a few fights.

The fact that I was losing to something as rediculous as a cigarette just did it for me.

I enjoy tobacco but hated knowing i was slowly killing myslef with cigs.

quitting greatly reduced my problems with indigestion and acid reflux but didn't get rid of it completely. I still find myself not eating heavily, and avoiding red sauces and things of an acidic nature helps greatly to keep the acid reflux away. I too am breathing much much better, and can get a restful night of sleep finally That's the single best improvement. Snoring has reduced a great deal. and no more hacking up a lung in the morning. These are just some of the positives of quitting the cigs

                            ^Wrestling with the wife??? Hmmmmmm.......

Speaking of that, I confess that my "wrestling" abilities have improved since quitting smoking. I seem to be in the mood for "wrestling" way more than I used to!

hey! no more looking at the last cig in the pack with that woefull stare,...
                              better taste and smell,
hardly anymore cough after 1.5 years off smokes,
                              breathe easier,
                              better breath,
snus is way cheaper, especially after it slips through customs unnoticed,
i don't stink,...especially coming in from the rain,
i dont pant after running for the phone,
still a bit of mucous (eeeeeewwwwwwwwwww) but nowhere near what it was while smoking.

                              :? Snus On!!! :?

                                Health effects from quitting smoking

                                Hi all,

Just wanted to add a few things here from my own experience over the past year as some encouragement to my fellow ex-smokers, since I just did my yearly physical. I don't consider any of this scientific, it's just been my experience.

Since moving from cigarettes to snus last January:

-Blood pressure is down to 120/70, from 136/87(without an increase in exercise)

-Resting heart rate is down to 68bpm from 96bpm(again without an increase in exercise)

-Total Cholesterol was 168, down from over 200

-"Good" cholesterol was 30, up from 20.

-"Bad" Cholesterol was 98, down from 150.

Again, this has been the case without any weight loss, any real increase in exercise, and only some minor dietary changes---like cutting out most McCrap, more fiber, daily multi-vitamin, etc. So I have to think that a large part of these improvements can be traced back to smoking cessation, since that is the only major thing I've done this year, health-wise..
