OK bp is high cant do cardio

Me has high blood pressure again and i donno what to do, I dont drink though im pretty sedentary now, Got a dodgy hip that doesnt like cycling is now a no go. I do yoga(bring it on) and started do qigong with the help of dvds. I would prefer not to have to give up anything but my bp is nearly 150/90 quite often. Should I cut out caffeine or go down to mini's? or quit totatally though ill probably get hooked on nrt.

I also eat loads of fruit and eat and have gone vegetarian. Although i can do with loosing a bit of weight but im still mostly muscle honest . Are potassium supplements any use do you think?

I would say its probably mostly stress related hence the yoga, meditation qigong etc... but idk.

Another option would be to throw away this damn bp monitor... My dad is in his 80s and still going strong, he has had hpb all his life. oh and i dont often snack on sugar.

Sorry to hear it, that sucks......I'm not sure you should put much credence in what any one here tells you though. Your on it with your lifestyle changes, here's one of a bazillion articles on the subject....good luck.

I'd be looking at lowering salt intake, good hydration drinking plenty of water, cutting out as much caffeine and nicotine as you can...lower one or both, or cut one out completely...and do whatever kind of daily exercise you can do. If nothing else, just a 20 minute walk every day. The exercise will strengthen your heart and lungs and help you to lose some weight and the lower weight will make it easier on your hip. IDK how much you weigh, but even 10 lbs for a guy is pretty easy to drop and will make a load of a difference on the everyday stress on your hip.

Hi Psychicferret, i too have high blood pressure, not as high as yours though.
Are you on any medication, you dont say in your post, or are you just relying on your own bp monitor. My Doctor has prescribed PERINDOPRIL ERBUMINE 8mg TABLETS, one a day, for me. The last time i had my bp done by her (i dont have my on monitor) about 6 weeks ago it was normal, and at that time i was Snusing my way through Thunders 2015 limited edition big can.
She knows that i am an ex - smoker, but i have not told her that i use Snus.

Yer, 20mg Aripirozole for the madman inside me and pregabalin 75mg for the neurotic man inside of me. I dont really want to take beta blockers as they might interfere with the Pregabalin, or the other the AP. Im not drinking any caffeine today, thats my intention anyway. im 14stone 11lb medium height, but as i said i have a lot of muscle from when i used to cycle daily and 40 situps per day etc, though still not the fittest.

If cutting out caffeine doesnt work ill have to try going down to mini's

Salt is a possablity, i do use a lot of dalmio in cooking, and other premade crapola

Whats odd is my pulse is also high

havent had any tea this morning and its still high 152/88. But im guessing it will come down slowly.

Just made a gp appointment for next week.

I didn't catch this part until now. I like supplements and vitamins, but instead of a supplement, it's better to get it naturally from what you eat because your body is much more receptive to it that way. Eat more potassium rich food...potatoes, sweet potatoes, bananas, apples, peas...stuff like that. I know those are good sources, but you may not like any of those, so do a little research on that. Definitely stay away as much as you can from pre-made boxed food too...tons of sodium usually (among other things that aren't good for you) which is not good for your BP. We all eat it at least on rare occasion, if not daily...so work on cutting back there.

What about your work? Is that a big source of stress for you? And have you increased or added to your medications recently...or have you been taking those 2 at that doseage for awhile? That could be a reason for high BP and/or high Heart Rate as well.

Well the aripiprozole got put up to 20 from 10mg but to be honest it was badly needed, idk i think it was high on 10 but i was exercising more, Nope no stresses at work as thats nonexistant... its stressful enough being unemployed, got knows what it would be like if i worked.

To be honest it could be anything, even some of the crazy dwugs i took in my 20's... mostly legal highs and weed but...

Ok ill get some potatoes atm only have da chips mccains 5% fat, but ill look at getting some sweet potato too, have loads of fruit each day though, and loads of nuts.

              Cheers.

              Havent had any tea today.

It`s good that you are going to see your gp. I didn`t go to mine at first, i decided to make lifestyle changes instead to make the bp lower, but it didn`t work.
I had to go in the end, coz the hospital that i go to for another medical complaint (kidney stones ) told her, and she called me in.

Thought ill update. Well finally went to a blood test a few weeks ago and it found elevated liver enzymes. Still feeling unhealthy could be that it was the protien pump inhibitor causing the results or may have a fatty liver etc. But this is really why people should have bloods taken often, wishing i went in 2015. Im hoping i havent let things go for too long.

This is what happens when you dont give schizophrenics enough medication . They go scatty as hell

anyway waiting for more resaults. Anxious as hell. BTW does nicotine metabolise in the liver or is it kidneys?

Thanks for the update brother. I hope the report is a good one and that they are able to get things corrected. keep us posted.

As far as the liver or kidney....I have no idea......nor do I know if nicotine would be a contributing factor to your condition regardless of which organ it is.

Anyway, let us know how things turn out. We will be keeping you in our thoughts and prayers.

well im not dead yet!... They said no followup was needed after i had more tests, so im guessing thats good news, gone back to avoiding the docs like usual. Gave up snus for a month, still mostly off it apart from nicotinell lozenges and one last can i found at the back of the fridge.

Having to detox from all my psych meds though may do me good not by choice. but it might do me good anyway

Back on my meds, but their really making me feel crappy, also still on the nicotine lozenges which are even crappier, is sware their more addictive and dangerous then snus but I am treating them like tic tacs, ordered two rolls of snus wow wintermint and toboca.

Going to have another break from my meds again this time voluntary

Haven't dared go near the docs for a month or four... haven't dared take my blood pressure either. It may be reckless but tired of the neurosis and having a foot in the devils shoes ain't no good either.

                              Need to good times back...

Need to find the Irish... stare death in the face then kick it in the balls... or the good old British, stiff upper lip god sir, grin and bare this crappyness. Haven't decided

So freak in sick n tired of artificial mint flavours blah

                              Rant over

                              Peace
