concentration and snus, dip, oliver twists

I find my concentration is better using oliver twists but dip and snus are just too strong and I get foggy. Guess minis and small pinches are in order. anyone else notice this?

It's a tightrope to walk, isn't it? You have to find the right nic balance that stimulates, as nicotine does, without pushing you over a cliff into deep relaxation, which nicotine also does.

Generally, the less nicotine, the better the stimulation-only benefit. Too much and you're out of it as far as concentration goes. OTs must have exactly the right amount for your build and need.

My favorite time of the day is when I stick in a strong portion, sip a cup of coffee, and read a book. Since I'm accustomed to strong snus, it doesn't fog me at all. I have noticed that I read about 30% faster while I'm under the influence of the evil snus!

I find that I get both effects in succession regardless of how much I use. I have kind of a "buzz" period, like after drinking a cup of coffee, and toward the end of my pris, I just feel relaxed. I haven't noticed my focus wavering in that relaxed period, though. I feel more like the calm, relaxed feeling lets me confront the challenges I face in my job with a wider view of the problem.

Nicotine affects people in different ways, though. I don't think it's the same for any two people. Just my 2c.

One snus can pumps out a hundred minis.... if I had one.

Yes, I found out that if I take a dip or use a full portion of snus, I get tired. I lose strength, my fingers can't find the right keys on the keyboard etc....

When I use an oliver twist, then I am very clear... not tired etc....

I thought maybe the tobacco was different but I doubt it.

I think OT is closer to the nic hit a person gets from a cig maybe.... dip is way stronger. I hate the dip buzz...sometimes I like it, but I actually prefer being quite clear headed.

So I recognized if I snus, I gotta use my portioner and take a smaller portion or use minis... or make minis. Maybe Camel has it right with the sizing... maybe they recognized something there..... they don't want to knock people out with too big a nic hit.

That said, I think minis are a ripoff pricewise unless you roll your own. Still imagining someday someone will make a portioner machine that you just dump your can of Snus in and it pumps out a hundred minis. I am surprised someone in sweden doesn't make a home portion packer.

Dip pouches are definitely way to big. a little pinch is about right... an oliver twist works very well.....

            Sudoku

I can't do sudoku if I have in a regular portion or a dip. It makes me too dumb. I thought I was turning dumb but was just clobbering my brain with nicotine.

Nasal snuff would be perfect for you

Toque absinthe, raspberry or whatever flavor sounds good. They make a ton. I'd personally stay away from Gawith's Apricot, made by Pöeschl of Germany. They do have an interesting cola flavor which I hear is either great or gross depending on your taste. Toque makes great little pocket bullets of snuff that are refillable...problem is, it's hard to find stateside, but you can order from their site, and I'm pretty sure they ship free to USA.

Anything from Dean Swift is good. My personal favorite is Dean Swift Inchkenneth (sandalwood and musk aroma), but all these are low on nicotine so the hit is not pronounced. There are many, many brands to try and the price is rock bottom.

Certainly not for everyone and only an occasional treat for me.

Pretty much anything from Toque, Wilson's, or Frieborg and Treyor.

Although, the best snuff comes from American Spirit rolling tobacco and Macanudo cigars.

Get a $13 can of American Spirit original, "bake" it in your oven @ 250 degrees until your whole house smells like your cooking a loaf of bread (this step isn't at all necessary, but it gives it a very pleasant aroma), then grind it up finely in a coffee grinder. Add a very very very very tiny amount of baking soda to make it stronger (this step is also unnecessary).

AS rolling tobacco is the absolute strongest tobacco that I know of, of unparalleled quality. I've hand a handrolled AS last me 15-20 minutes. No stem, no recon, no weakass "oriental" tobaccos. A 5.29oz can will make 1-3 months worth of snuff. None of the nasal snuff brands I've tried are even 1/2 as strong.

thanks for the info on the Toque and American Spirit. I may have made a mistake by ordering some other snuffs.... live and learn.

                          cigarettes

would you use this American Spirit for cigarettes too? Am curious what roller or injector / papers you would recommend.

I'll smoke an American Spirit here and there; but I usually smoke the "US blend" and "Perique". Any of their tobaccos makes a fine snuff or smoke. I usually use the "Organic" for snuff, but they all work (the US Blend is just a hair weaker than the others).

American Spirit rolling tobacco comes with 78millimeter rolling papers: a 78mm filterless Spirit is just too much for me, so I use extra 70mm papers I have lying around. I also own an "Supermatic Excel" cigarette injector that makes PERFECT cigarettes. Zig-zag and Rizla make good filter-tubes, both full flavor and light. American Spirit tobacco is just too damn good to smoke filtered: Bugler and Midnight special are good filtered but I don't much care to smoke these filterless. Bali Shag Blue/Red and Jester are other good brands for filterless. 70mm (Top) and 78mm (Zig-Zag) hand-rollers should be available at any cigarette/tobacco store.

The AS tobacco is VERY dry because there's no preservatives, so you'll need to hydrate it before smoking. Put it in a tupperware container with a wet paper towel (don't let it actually touch the tobacco). It'll be nice and moist in about 24hrs. Leave it in the bathroom with the shower as hot as it will go for 10-20 minutes if you're feeling impatient.

Not trying to encourage you to smoke, but if you're gonna smoke you may as well smoke premium tobacco.

I smoked American Spirit Lights religiously for about 12 years until I switched to snus about 3 months ago. They are a good cigarette, and didn't make me feel crappy if I chained a bunch of them. I don't know 100% about their 'additive-free' sales pitch, but I'm totally confident they are the only "reduced-harm" cigarette. The perique blend [black box] I will miss, those were my strong camping and boating smoke...no loss though, I can hike without getting winded and I'll be alive to sire a child who can wipe me when I'm old and gray. I will never smoke again...sorry to 'go off', just felt right..
