salt in snus is burning my lips terribly

Any solution to severe salt wounds on lips? The salt in chips and pretzels does the same thing to me, burns my sensitive parts of the lips. dry skin is probably adding to the issue....

    Hey pcguy!!

If it's happening with portions, try putting them in your mouth and wetting them with saliva prior to positioning. This will rince off the outer layer of salt on the portion. IMO, lös snus isn't as salty as portions so, if you haven't tried yet, do try. The only adverse issue I've had with lös is, wrinkly lip due to me keeping a pris in for 2 hours. Hope this helps.

Yeah I started about 3 months ago, and I thought that I wouldn't be able to keep snusing due to lip pain. As soon as I realized you need to wet the portion before all my problems went away. Agreed also that los is much easier but messier, so it depends if I have class or can stay home.

try a v2 brand snus, offroad or phantom. My suggestion is phantom blue, but you may find another that you like much better. Those seem to have much less salt in them. The Gallaher brands, Gustavus, LD, etc. seem to me to be the saltiest by a long shot. Which I like, but they are even a little to salty for me at times. Swedish match products seem to be in the middle. I can not testify for Gotlands as I have not tried any yet.

Maybe this is silly - but try not to lick your lips. You don't have to all the time and if you don't, the salt won't transfer to them.

If it is an "inner lip" problem, not sure there.

That should normally pass after a week. How long are you using snus as your 'main vice'? I had terrible problems too, when I was a newbie.

                Cheers!

When I first started using snus (Triumph- Swedish Match), my lips and gums would become very dry. However, this problem seems to be minimal now. Most snus contains salt as a flavor enhancer, but it should not be enough to cause severe dental problems. Currently, I have been using Skruf Stark and Nick & Johnny portions and have experienced no problems with dry lips or gums.

I am about a month in to exlusively using snus and not a single cig since the day I decided to switch...

my gums seem fine, slightly irritated at times, but mostly the upper lip is having issues. There are a couple of breaks in the skin that burn like hell, there is some healing going on, it's not the end of the world but I have always been sensitive in the upper lip with salty foods.
