Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......
I've been wrong lots of times. Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

Cool. Did you take 5 mg or 10 mg tabs and how often. I am on quite a few meds so I need to speak to my Doc before I take any additional meds or supplements. Thanks for the info.
I googled it and I can see how it might work. If it would help even alittle that would be great. This noise is awfull most of the time. And nicotine aggravates it. So that sucks big time.
It might help my chronic demetia as well. :wink:Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

My tinnitus isn't severe, but I have found that in-ear monitors (IEMs) are excellent to help me enjoy music. I tend to turn my speakers up too loud to be able to hear the music's subtleties. This is bad. IEMs act like earplugs, blocking out ambient noise, meaning that the listening volume can be lower for a given level of hearing details. This is good. Actually, this is what they were designed to do: for musicians on stage, they quiet out the venue's noise while allowing monitoring of the performance. Check out head-fi.org to read more about them. Entry level is about $80, up to around $1000, which is peanuts compared to comparable speakers. One thing to be cautious of is the IEM's impedance, which is too low to be fully compatible with a lot of amplifiers.
I also wear earplugs when exposed to much noise. I have a pair of -26dB plugs for noisy environments that most people don't think about: airplanes, mass transit, walking along busy roads. Sometimes I just wear them while I work, although that's more for ADD than ear-safety. I have another pair of -10db plugs for when I'm driving alone, although some cars are quiet enough on their own. The -10dB plugs are also for concerts; they were designed to reduce noise evenly across the spectrum, whereas most plugs work far better at some frequencies than others and thereby distort the music.
As far as the actual tinnitus goes, I've found that meditation helps; it doesn't reduce the tinnitus, but it allows me to be more comfortable with it. Also allows me to be more secure in my eccentricity. ;-)
I'd be happy to help anyone learn more about this stuff. Just PM me. Cheers.

heck, i get ringing in my ears everyonce in a while, it comes on fast...i have no idea what does it, and if i think about the ringing it just gets louder...but i fix it by just sticking my fingers in my ears (just plugging them) for about 25 or 30 seconds...that makes it go away.
but something tells me that may not help you, if you have been actually diagnosed with an aliment
good luck PP!
