    My Doctor

BTW I visited my family Doctor this week and I told her that I had quit smoking and was using snus. After I explained to her what is was, and that no it was not chewing tobacco. She said to me that "snus is probably much less dangerous than smoking" Well, I knew that, but it was nice to hear it from a member of the medical profession.

^ if you haven't seen them, there are a good number of medical studies that examined the health effects of snus and it is absolutely very much less hazardous than cigarettes. The only things I've seen are about a doubling of the pancreatic cancer rate (vs no tobacco at all) and still the stress on one's heart from the nicotine, but no worse (for the latter) than, for example, something like coffee. Incidence of pancreatic cancer is low, abot 8-10 cases per 100,000, so going from 0.01% chance to maybe 0.02% doesn't really seem like a serious contributing effect. Switching from cigarettes to snus is basically a shy-step away from quitting completely, I think.

All of the research I have done leads to the conclusion that snus is very very close to risk free. One thing I read (that was posted somewhere here) stated that it lowers the risk of acid reflux!
