    Brushing your teeth

I brush my teeth regularly. Before using snus, when i brushed, i maybe bled from my gums on very rare occasion (about twice a month). Now that im snusing, i bled from my gums every time i brush (its a a light red tint to my spit). Im not gushing bright red blood, its not like i burst a capilary or something. Is this something to be concerned about (ive been snusing for a couple weeks). Ive developed snus legions (on my upper left part of my lip). Its not like during the day blood is dripping down my cheeks. Its only when i brush. Do i need to switch up the places on my upper lip when i place the snus (one week on upper left and one week on the upper right or something)?

I appreciate a response to this (im happy ive found a forum that people are mature adults that aren't insulting people with online acronyms that have some obscene meaning). Im drunk fairly so i hope this makes sense.

Also, on a similar note, i would touch (sexually) anyone who would send me a couple tins of mocca mandarin snus.

DON'T brush too hard. This will cause gum recession and irritation very quickly. As well, rinse your mouth with hydrogen peroxide (about $1 for a huge bottle) daily, since it reduces gum irritation.

My first thought is that you are brushing too hard, may be you are worried that snus may deteriorate your gums. So just be cautious when brushing.

Also i highly recommend getting an electric toothbrush (got mine when i started snusing, i was afraid of gum loss). I got the Oral B Triumph,~75 dollars after rebate for amazon plus 15 dollar mail in rebate (google it). I use colgate total plus arm and hammer whitening boost, i got a nice set of pearls from using it. Plus the dam toothbrush forces you to brush the full 2 min especially when you don't want to, like when your drunk. hope it helps. just remember don't brush too hard and flossing definetly helps although i don't do that frequently.

Just a thought: If I remember correctly, nicotine stimulates bloodflow to an area, so you might notice more blood because you're brushing too hard and because when it is there, the bloodflow is increased due to the tobacco. However, this is just personal and not medical advice, but if it becomes a concern talk to your dentist.

Just want to add my two cents. I use a soft bristle toothbrush, this is very important. I also rinse my toothbrush under hot water before brushing as it softens the bristles aswell. As others have said, do not brush too hard, as this will futhur gum recession. I also put my portion or pinch in a different spot everytime. For mouthwash I use Biotene, and it works great, it's somewhat expensive, but I highly recommend it.

I got a few legions on my gums when I first started. I just cut back on my use in those areas for about two days and they healed up. During that time I was putting portions in my bottom lip. I have had no problems since then! Hope it all works out for you.

I change sides every time except for when I double-barrel my last snus of the evening. 8)

Yeah, mercvurivs has a point about blood flow. If you're already bleeding, it will be increased if you just snused. Either way, bleeding gums is not a good sign, so talk to your dentist about it next time - if the soft brush and peroxide don't help.

I always double barrel. So switching sides isn't an option for me.

And I can't speak highly enough about hydrogen peroxide. It does wonders.

When I first started using snus, my gums would burn and get sore. Now I snus in just one spot and never have any problems. Following a good dental health plan is the most important part of keeping health gums.

In my case I remember there was a block of time like 4 years!!! that I did not go to the dentist for a cleaning. My gums also started to bleed everytime I brushed. When I finally made it in for a cleaning I had to go through what they called "deep cleaning" and it came out to about $800 dollars without insurance. My teeth are the kind that no matter what I do the plaque is going to build up and I go every 4 months now for a cleaning.

Dont procrastinate like I did and if you do need the deep cleaning take a couple of ibuprofins before you go in.

Hmm, I'm not sure which gender you are, but I'm thinking that *might* affect how folks respond to the offer.
