    Wisdom Teeth and Snus

So I just got my wisdom teeth taken out yesterday(monday) at about Noonish, how long should i wait until I start snusing again? Which do you think is safer snusing or smoking? I'm just feeling really really edgy and need my nicotine fix.

You should be ok with snus, but I'd stick to using portions. You don't want any tobacco bits to get in the wound.

Even the next day? Thats what i was thinking, I mean at very most its just salt, which is going to be good for the wound. And the fact is that there is less mucous created snusing compared to chewing, which is probably the only other information i can find about it.

I normally use portions anyway, and i cant imagine it would cause too much damage.

I'm not a doctor, but I'd use snus the next day. I think you'll be ok :^)

Be careful you don't get a "dry socket."

          google it.

Most dentists tell you not to suck on anything after a tooth extraction. Like no drinking through a straw.

If you create suction and pull out the blood clot from the tooth socket you're in for some pain.

Unless the teeth were surgically removed and you have stitches. then I'd say you're good to go.

You should not have any issues. The only issue with smoking, as was mentioned earlier, is the sucking WILL cause dry socket, which is about the most painful thing you will experience.

me, of course I smoked an hour after I was home, got the dry socket, was miserable for a day or so until i called the dentist and they had me come back in. they put clove oil on it, and it ends the pain immediately.

So if you had any clove snus, you would be doing good for yourself.

So I wouldn't worry too much about snusing after wisdom teeth come out. Just be careful that you dont suck on the snus, that could cause a dry socket. Biggest problem is that snusing feels awkward, you'd be suprised how many much your jaw plays into your average snusing, i use my tounge and jaw alot to position the snus and its hard with everything so sore.

Hrm, IDK. Infected wisdom teeth is kind of a bummer. I would have waited at least 3 days.

                    ^_^

Definitely better than smoking in that case though
