    I'm allergic to Skruf!

I had noticed hives/bumps on my arms. I thought I must have gotten into poison oak or something. It was different though. I switch up my snus throughout the day....so this was a little difficult to pin down. I would hit a Skruf stark in the morning then switch to roda lacket or lucky strike in the day. Well.....this weekend I woke up and popped in some Skruf. I noticed my arms turning red at breakfast. After breakfast I waited for a while....maybe an hour before trying again. I hit the Skruf again and the itching came back. But this time my throat was feeling weird. I'm fine with Nick and Johnny, Lucky Strike, Goat Rape, Roda Lacket, General and Pall Mall. It has to be something in Skruf that doesn't agree with me. The bad part is I really like the stuff....and I have 7 more cans in the freezer. I've seen other posts on here with similar symptoms. I have probably 10 more brands in the freezer to try yet. That may narrow down what it is if I find myself turning red and itching with them. The funny thing is I've gone through three cans before I noticed this. So I guess it isn't gonna kill me.

    That's odd...

Allergies can build up over time. You'll sometimes see that with exotic hardwoods. They'll be fine at first, but after awhile you get sensitive, and can't even use it(thinking musical instruments specifically).

They may need to go to good home. I have 4 more portions in this open can. If I turn red and itch then they'll have to go. I'm hoping it's just a fluke. I offered the cans to a couple guys at work but neither of them took me up. I am getting ready to throw in my first portion of Skruf today...(the after supper snus). I should be able to report back here shortly.

if it is indeed true, could you try to narrow down the ingredient you're allergic to in it? they are listed, after all. unless it's some "natural flavor"

That is what I am trying to narrow down now....the ingredient that is causing it. I just threw this portion in and I notice my gum throbbing. Have any of you guys ever had that sensation?

I've had almost every snus out there, and aside from some bad flavors, I've had no problems. Do you have allergies with other things in the world?

Poison ivy.....and a couple years ago I found myself allergic to bees. I think I am getting more allergic to things the older I get. I had been stung by everything before that yellow jacket got me a couple years ago. I think I almost died. I carry an Epi-Pen in my truck now.

Well....it's been in better than 30 minutes and no redness or itching. WTF :?:
I thought I had this narrowed down.

Roda Lacket is starting to make my sinuses slam shut. I still have two left out of my half-roll...

I'm not sure what triggers this reaction. I may have been a bit dehydrated. I have plenty of test material... so hopefully I can figure this out.

How long has it been since you quit smoking? I quit 2 and half months ago and have gone through redness and itching as my body has rid itself of the toxins that 23 years of smoking had done. My wife always told me that if I quit smoking completely that I should expect a gray film for awhile on my skin as the body rid itself of the toxins.

It has been about a month and a half. Hopefully that is it....I hate to think I am allergic to my new habit.

It's been about a week since I've stopped smoking. Today I got the red blotches all over my arms. I was using Catch Dry Licorish- and it really dried my sinuses out. I've had what feels like "menthol effect" in my sinuses and the back of my throat for about eight hours now. I jumped in the shower and when I got out my forearms were covered in red blotches and welts, but they went away after a few minutes. The only other time I ever had a reaction to Snus was mixing Camel with Pepto Bismol, it started feeling like my throat was closing in.

I quit using the Catch about noon today, but I still feel all "minty" even though I've been using regular General since then. I'm attributing it to the weird detoxing your body goes through when you quit smoking. :?

I hope this works out for you and just goes away forever. Skruf, or snus in general, is not something I would want to be allergic to. Good luck!
