The swedish invasion of 2009 is shaping up to be a very interesting event in the use of tobacco in America.
I live in a small mountain town in Western NC and they have been going through the Camel snus like crazy. There must me lots who like it or my wife has taken to hording snus just in case of a end of the word event :P
It will be even more interesting when the real information gets out about snus instead of the fear mongering that is going on now.
5% of people who try to quit smoking are successful. That's just down right pitiful. I would love to see some real world numbers on smokers who quit smoking with snus.
These are fantastic articles that I believe should be read by all Physicians and brought to the table when a patient is considering smoking cessation options. Although these don't hold any monetary value for the prescriber the option should still be discussed.
When I was diagnosed with diabetes I had an unfavorable reaction to one medication and was prescribed a controversial medication that I wasn't real happy taking. I did some research and changed my eating habits a bit, while monitoring 2 times a day. My numbers dropped dramatically to the normal level and a little lower. No meds at all now and I continue to monitor my blood sugar daily. My physician was dumbfounded and asked what I did. I told him and while not condoning going off my meds on my own, he told me he saw no need for them now. Now my diabetes was adult onset so I could work with it. Now it is food controlled and continually monitored by me and my doctor.
So in conclusion my feelings are that if there is no monies to be made, those options are rarely discussed. Wouldn't it be great not to have all of the illnesses caused by smoking and second hand smoke? I think alloptions should be discussed and you should do your part in researching and bringing those options to your doctor also.
Snus has helped me to curb and quit smoking for good. I say Thank you to Snus.

I would bet they'd be pretty good. A lot of the ex-smokers here never really looked back. Even those who still smoke now and then just do it now and then.
Amid inspirational talk, chanted mantras and shouts of victory at a late-night firewalking event attended by thousands Thursday came agonized shrieks...
