How to reduce gum/inner lip pain?

I have my first issue since beginning using snus. I put my portions a little to the left of center under my upper lip. The problem is that the area is become irritated/sore and it's becoming a bit painful to use snus.

Now, I have tried to put my portions on the right side, but something is weird with my mouth. The portions just will not stay put over there. It's like my mouth has a pouch for the portions on the left but it doesn't want to hold them on the right side. :?:

So, what are some ways to ease this? Is there a certain mouthwash that'll soothe the area? Are regular portions easier on the gums/lip than whites? I've considered moving the portions back farther along the gum line but I thought I remembered reading somewhere that the nicotine is absorbed better with the snus is placed closer to the front.

Stop the white portion insanity. Other than that your right side will get used to it with a little practice.

      Check out this thread...

There's a product mentioned which I haven't used, but others seem to like. I get temporary sore spots, but they go away after awhile. There's nothing that says you can't put a portion flat on your tongue. When I use portions, they're all over my mouth. I only tuck them in my lip for temporary storage.

        Try swabbing with hydrogen peroxide.

I find regular portions ARE less irritating than white portions, I believe black portions are even less irritating.

Everyone's perceptions are different, but from what I've perceived and read, black portion material is the same as white. At least they are considered whites in terms of how they are produced (ie not moistened with juice like regulars). I have the same problems described above from time to time (when I've been chain snusing), and all that works in my experience is to force yourself to use your "off-side", or right side as may be the case, for a day or two to give your good side some rest. That's what I'm doing as I type. I don't think anything will speed up the short time it takes for healing besides a little time and rest. Hope it works. Having said all that, the frequency of soreness will also decrease over time as your mouth adjusts to using snus.

I just switch up sides with every portion. Or ignore/relish the pain. It's a good soreness

Learn to appreciate the burn! I get pain spells every once in a while, but they go away rather quickly. Loose snus seems to irritate my gums more than portioned varieties.

Just keep putting them there. You will develop the pocket over time. Left-front was my normal "spot" when I started, and when it started to irritate my gums, I just moved the portions over gradually until I developed about four pockets under there. Now I have plenty of options.

I think for me it is the salt, my mouth feels the same as if I ate a whole bag of salty peanuts.
