    Bleeding Gums

I've been snussing for four months and recently my gums have started bleeding but away from the place where I snus. It could be that there was an underlying problem there anyway and snus has irritated it but I've never bled before.

I noticed as well that I chain snussed Skruf Stark yesterday and today my gums were bleeding at the site where I place the snus.

I'm now sticking it in the bottom lip and as my gums aren't used to it it damned nearly blew my nuts off - so it explains why I'm chain snussing as my upper gums are de-sensitised and don't seem to absorb the nicotine.

I'll move it around from now on but I'm wondering if anybody else has this bleeding gum problem. This could be quite serious as it could stop me snussing and I soooo don't want to stop.

I brush my teeth twice a day and I'm now washing out with salt water.

If you use a mouthwash with alcohol in it, your gums could get over dried and bleed as well or make them more susceptible to bleeding.

I was using Listerine but stopped it a couple of weeks back because that's when the bleeding started - but I've still got a problem.

...........so nobody else has had this problem then?

I have never had a gum problem before I started snussing 4 months ago and I've been on the planet 39 years - so it ain't flossing that's the problem.

I've never had any problems like that. I'll get the occasional sore spot if I overdo the snus, but never blood.

Bleeding is often a sign of Gingivitis. Try using some hydrogen peroxide mixed with water (5 parts water, 1 part peroxide) as a mouthwash and be sure to floss at least once a day.

It is normal for your gums to bleed when you floss if they are unhealthy, just keep at it and they should stop bleeding. (not saying you dont floss, just in general)

Mine started bleeding when I brushed and I just had poor hygene. Ive kicked it up several notches over the last few years and my gums look great now.

True, hygiene is key. I take a bath once a month whether I need it or not

Did you and do you still dip? It wears at your gums a lot more. Do you use portions? I find that they wear them down more as well after just trying los for the first time. (had some in for an hour now total.)

I refrained from using the normal snus area yesterday and right enough my gums are better. I reckon it's the portion bag.

Might be an excuse to move on to los.

Are you using skruf stark or skruf stark white? White portions are much harder on my gums than origianl portions.

Yes Dave, I was using Skruf Stark and this is when the bleeding started - I think we've put the finger on what the problem has been as I haven't had any problems since I've finished the Skruf.
I put an Odens Extra Stark in and it was like a soft fluffy pillow in comparison.

Los has a lot softer feel in the mouth, but after removal my gums actually feel more violated than from a portion. I dont know why exactly. Totally worth it for a nice soft pris in there though.
