    Absolut Idiot

    Wow, the ignorance astounds me:

    <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/8ZlClCCwk-I&hl=en&fs=1&rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/8ZlClCCwk-I&hl=en&fs=1&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

And yes, I meant to spell "absolute" as "Absolut". Oh yeah, and Absolut Vodka is from Sweden........

This dr. should have his license revoked! He cited that stupid study comparing a pack of cigs a day vs. 4 tins of Copenhagen a day and their amount of carcinogens. GENIUS!!!! 4 cans a day!!!???? Anyway, don't get too excited about this doc, half of the U.S. doctors graduated at the bottom of their class, he must have been way near the bottom.[/i]

If my math's right, 1 tin of Copenhagen per day, which is still heavy, but reasonable, is 66% safer than a pack of cigarettes using their numbers.

that guy is a tool. that 4 cans of cope vs. a pack of cigs study thing a complete sham of a mockery of a sham. i, as a chain smoker shifting to cope and the like, could not even do a can a day, and i was stuffing it into my pie-hole like popeye cramming down spinach in a fight with bluto.

That is one of the most absurd crocks I have ever heard. I am shocked, and I have seen a many 'experts' like him give their well thought out guidance. What would we do without people like this and their amazing insight.

                lol

i like how he recommends leaving all your cigarette butts around the house to 'remind you of the bad parts of smoking' the bad parts? like when you run out of cigarette to smoke???

this guy is clearly not the expert he paints himself to be. i don't know if he's a plant from cigarette companies, but he delivered a ton of horrible advice in less than 2 minutes time.

I think these shills really work for the pharmas. They want to scare suckers into using those patches and gum crap.

This is sorta on topic, but I stumbled on this book illegallythin.com and this makes sense, esp about the FDA and big pharma. It's all about control of money and profits, and truth doesn't matter.

I just can't believe that THEY would lie.

I went to the stations website and complained to the news director about the segment...

"I saw the portion on HealthBeat called Dangers of smokeless tobacco, and I was amazed at how the reporter didn't question the Doctor's insane comparison between 1 pack of smokes and 4 cans of dip.

It's like saying beer is worse than vodka because a six pack has 8 times more alcohol than a shot of vodka. Or even... driving the speed limit is worse than driving above the speed limit because if you drive across the country at the speed limit, you are 10 times more likely to die than if you speed to the nearest starbucks.

Smoking kills FAR more people than dipping does, and I think it is insincere and harmful to the community to pretend like it's safer than smokeless tobacco.

You should never have this doctor on your show again, and should seriously reconsider the value of this reporter. "

Fight disinformation with facts. Here is my response to the news director:

                              //
After seeing your piece on youtube about the dangers of smokeless tobacco, I am ashamed that such poor reporting would be allowed to go on the air. (Clip in question http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ZlCl...layer_embedded)

As a news organization one would expect that such an organization would actually look into the thinly veiled allegations made by the guest commentator and maybe even ask some questions about the "facts" being presented.

Here are a few independent journal links were your organization can learn more about the truths of smokeless tobacco:

Thanks for taking the time to read my response and I look forward to hearing back from you in regards to a correction.
