    Almost at 150 days now!

Saturday will be 150 days since I quit smoking after 30+ years, oooooooo. Nobody ever thought I'd even quit for 2 hours. Even the hubby says "but you wouldn't have quit if you didn't HAVE to"...and I say big whoop, who cares why, a quit is a quit!

The thing here was always "when you quit smoking, I'll quit drinking". Now it's "you had to quit smoking, I don't have to quit drinking". Guess he got scared and changed the rules on me

Congratulations, I'd say you are past most of the big hurdles. When I quit cold turkey I found two weeks, and three months to be important times. Of course you will have rare times when you have a big craving for years but those were pretty noticeable changes in my cravings.

Oh yeah, those cravings are still there every once in a while and I was one of those ones that actually liked smoking. I'm still hardly ever without a snus in my mouth these days too. And, I still have a half-used cig on top of my desk that's been sitting there for those almost 150 days...I know it'll taste disgusting if I light it up but it's staying put just for that reason.

              sheilalynn, great feeling isn't it?

One of the best ways to deal with cravings is substituion. That way you aren't denying yourself anything, you are choosing one thing over another.

I guess it's an ok feeling

I am doing the substitution thing, and actually lost weight instead of gaining it like most people do when they quit. I think having the snus in my mouth is the reason for that though...since I don't eat when I do have one in. I also learned to keep some Thunder around for the really tough times, or just pop in 2 Discreets if need be.

                        Congrats Sheila!

Pick out a good reptile Saturday. You can afford it now that you aren't spending all of your money on cigarettes ;^)

Really glad I found out about snus...so much better and more effective than any of those gums/lozenges/patches/inhalers/etc.

This is true! Just checked my counter at myspace and it's up over $1300 saved. Of course some of that did get spent on snus and snuff, but nowhere's near that.

As far as the reptile goes, I already have one picked out from A+Serpents, and since the hubby just picked himself up a $1200 monstrosity of a snowblower, I think I can get this little girl. She's a Dumerils boa, and she's purty
