So, as some has hinted in the past, you really shouldn't put your portions dead centre up top. It never really bothered me, but the other day I noticed that my upper lip frenulum (the little web-thingy that connects your lips to your gums) is essentially gone. There are two small nubs, one on my gum, the other behind my lip. I suppose the friction from the portion finally did it in, so now they're disconnected. Doesn't really make me feel bad in any way, but if you're keen on keeping that attached, put your portions a wee bit to the side.

Well, you know what they say: if you've still got your upper-lip frenulum, you're not a real snusophile.
Okay, they don't say that. AFAIK.
Snus. It's a delight, a friend, and even a surgeon:

Technically...no.
The frenulum's purpose:
The frenulum starts out as a thick, stiff, cord-like structure, whos purpose is to guide the mouth structures during initial formation inside the womb.
So in other words, its just to make sure sh*t gets put in the right place when forming.
After birth, there's really no use for it. Orthodontists regularly remove it in patients, because it pulls up on the gums, causing gum recession in some patients, and impeding procedures aimed at closing a front tooth gap with braces, etc etc...
Did that make sense?

quick question... How long does it take to wear away the upper lip frenulum when you snus dead center?
Not sure. It took me about 8 months of solid snusing to really notice that my frenulum is almost gone. I snus los top right and top left, but the end is always touching the frenulum and probably wearing it away by friction and salting. Probably won't really be gone for another 6 months.
The one one my bottom lip disappeared in two months from dipping dead center. I do not dip anymore.
