    aye... I looked it up when I got here a few years back because I was aghast at the state of things.

    I've been to greasy-spoon breakfast restaurants and had the girl serve me a coffee from a proper espresso machine by pouring instant granules into a cup and then blasting steaming water from the coffee machine into the cup - that's how they used the damned thing! :shock:

    In Germany (and most of the rest of Europe, Canada, the world...for that matter) I've seen surveys that had almost 70% of people refusing to drink anything but real, fresh brewed coffee.

      I keep a jar of instant on hand for when I either run out of real coffee, or want a quick cup before bed. It's a very poor imitation of real coffee, but it beats a blank in an emergency.

          Canada and Snusburgh

          Is it true that Canadians stick Timbits under their top lip for the jelly Doughnut pleasure? Horton was a Sabre and has full run over western NY with his crack coffee. I got transplanted to Pittsburgh, but we will have a Hortons soon they say! I read Zero was in England so I thought I would pull his chain. No Canadian can be without the Double for long....

          Side question, what is the French for the French Fry, gravy, cheese curd thing? I need it! Sorry, Fat Italian cravings.

            A poutine? Bliss :lol: And nevermind the Double - sugar has no business being anywhere near coffee unless it's firmly in the makeup of the doughnut. Double cream, however... 8)

              Yes, and we're most shamelessly addicted! You should see the cutthroats in the parking lots cutting each other off to get their fix of that "crack coffee." Hell, I'm been victimized many of time . . . .

              After all this Hortons talk, I actually went to get my first Timmy H the other day in quite awhile, (I used to be a hardcore addict--until the intervention--but I don't want to get into that). I brought along some Lucky Strike Portions, and it was all that I had expected.

              I'm actually just going to buy a can of Horton's coffee at Wegman's to home brew. I could do without running into the other Horton crackheads. :shock:

                Man we only have Starbucks and a few mom and pop coffee shops around here. I really want to try this Hortons coffee, you guys speak really highly of it.

                      Poutine?

                      Bravo, I witnessed Anthony Bourdain eat several versions on travel channel, growing up next to Canada and drinking there at a pre-twentyone status it seemed like the perfect nightcap that I missed!

                        Poutine-Yes-Poutine

                        I need this Poutine you speak of, soon a Quebec trip with the Goose liver guy from Anthony Bourdain's show and a Poutine to follow. My Father and brother are Master Cheese Makers and the Cheese curd in Western New York is great, but the whole thing should be done by a local joint I am sure. Snusburgh
