    Anti Camel SNUS website

    http://meltdownva.com/theevidence.php

You gotta hand it to them, the image on the top of the site looks pretty cool.

Just more BS from the anti-tobacco (anti-nicotine) activists. I did leave a post there, nonetheless.

I'm pretty fine with this campaign as long as it sticks to targetting these colorful american tins with artificial sweteners in the tobacco.

But on a few pages they seem to just be using the word snus, and that is where I think our members should leave some comments explaining that swedish snus is a rather natural tobacco product that should be left alone, especially considering the main focus of their campaign is accusing the bright colors and resemblances to candy being the problem.

When dealing with *these people*, no amount of logic or explanation would ever help. Doctors could come right out and say snus is a much healthier alternative to smoking (oh wait, they HAVE) and yet no one would even pretend like they said anything. On the other hand a person with no medical or scientific background at all could make some ridiculous claim that couldn't even remotely be possible (oh wait, they HAVE, i.e. 3rd hand smoke) and *these people* would jump all over it as the truth.

We are fighting a losing battle (well sitting on the sidelines hoping someone will fight for us anyway, the only ones fighting are the anti's) Sad but true.

I agree a lot of ignorance will continue no matter what we respond with, but I still think swedish snus has a good chance of becoming respected or somewhat left alone if we seperate ourselves from camel snus and remind people that there is no such thing as second hand snus.

I don't think they'll care if you for or against camel products or SM/V2/Etc products. Tobacco is tobacco and nicotine is nicotine. That's what they're going after.

I really just don't understand all the hype when it comes to tobacco products appealing to youth. I've said it here before but American obesity related diseases tops 'smokeless tobacco' diseases. If this website's creators really cared about the youth starting a dangerous habit, their time and money would better be spent creating a website against the fast food industry. How about they focus on McDonald's and their fu**ing happy meals with a toy that they have created to appeal to children as young as two years old?

I could not bother myself to read the whole thing, nor read all of the comments........it's getting tiring listening to people who do not know what they are talking about, will not do proper research, or admit that they are influenced by media rhetoric.

                      LOL!

                      The new products are FLAVORED!

The flavors sweeten the taste, so the products taste more like candy and less like tobacco. This makes the products easier to consume for people not used to the taste of tobacco.
Sounds more like an ad to me!

                            this is what i said

you should not say snus is marketed torwards children...you should say CAMEL SNUS is...if you research snus you will see it has a 200+ year history in sweden and is 98% safer than cigs..btw safer does not mean it isnt dangerous it means its not as dangerous..swedish snus is regulated by the swedish fda and has to meet high standards it doesnt contain any chemicals that wouldnt be in food...its all natural..and for the most part a natural tobacco flavor..and for whoever said it increases risk of pancreatic cancer yes it does it doubles it from 4 in 10,000 to 8 in 10,000 but im willing to take that risk since snus(swedish snus) has helped me quit smoking..there are charts that show someone who quits smoking and starts using snus has almost the same exact life expectancy as a non smoker do some research...if you are so against things that kill you then maybe you should support abortion..it saves people the process of dying since thats what you start doing from the day you're born

                              Meltdown site

This site is obviously out there to collect research information from young people with regard to snus.

The products are so well pictured as to be appealing (usually you have to be over 18 to see these images on the corporate sites), and surrounded by a "hip" website environment.

It is obviously something with a tobacco company behind it, or at least a research company with tobacco money.

If it's not, it is an epic, epic fail.
