I'd stay away from los so that you don't get it stuck in the pockets. I remember having a little syringe that I had to use to flush the pockets for a week or so after the stitches were removed. You'd probably be fine to use portions. Doesn't tobacco have antiseptic properties? Might be a good thing.

I had both of my wisdom teeth(top) pulled last January, one at a time over the month.

I did use Triumph afterward for its lack of salt. Kept it as dry as I could, only used it when I really felt I needed one, and took extra caution to rinse frequently and refrain from any sucking.

        Didn't have a problem.

I didn't use any lös during that month, though. Better safe than sorry, I figured.

Edit: I should note that they were both simple extractions, no cutting into the gum was necessary. So that may be worth considering too.

If they are going to be simple extractions, you won't have much of a problem.

If they are impacted and have to be "dug out," you are not in for a pleasing experience.

I suggest Percoset to deal with the pain.

Try Ibuprofen. Start with 400 mg and work up to 800 mg if necessary. 800 mg is considered prescription strength. If that does not work, you may have an abscess or infection. If that's the case, you will need Penicillin. Of course you should consult with a doctor or dentist prior to treating yourself.

texas...try rinsing with a weak salt water solution. 1 tablespoon salt in a cup of warm water. Worked wonders for me until I was able to afford to have all 4 of my wisdom teeth yanked.

Now I feel old LOL... I am getting all 4 taken out in about 3 weeks, I am 47. They don't need to come out but my dentist told me, "get them out now, you don't want to do it 10 years from now, and you will have to eventually get them out, also better to get them out when there are no problems than to wait."

Surgeon said under local it will take him 15 minutes (they only scheduled 30 for the appointment) but it's the recovery I am not looking forward to (the dry socket possibilities).

Let us know how it goes Chad and good luck.

Got mine taken out about 3 weeks ago and it didn't stop being sore until a week ago. Now I just have to wait for my sinus to close up and the incisions to close all the way. Snus didn't seem to do anything nor did dip although I was inclined to use the pouches from fear of having tobacco strands getting stuck in the holes.

I remember when I got my wisdom teeth pulled; I was a smoker had no knowledge of snus. After getting your wisdom teeth pulled, you will be prescribed a cocktail of potent painkillers -- nicotine will be the last thing on your mind.

I'll use as little as I can today but tomorrow I get to try all the new goodies I received from Northerner yesterday [right before I went to the dentist].
I too had some dental work done yesterday. Had a crown that broke, and I had a new one put in place. Nothing major for me, so I snused as soon as I left the office. I did keep the portion on the other side, away from the new crown...it was numb anyway, lol. After the area got it's feeling back, I did move a portion over there "just to see"...and apparently where he gave me the shot was still tender. It burned like satan himself was touching my gums, lol. Moved it back..all is well ;-)

Chad....I wouldn't put anything but warm salt water in my mouth for a day or two...that and a few protein drinks. Had mine cut out many years ago, but I smoked then. I'll tell you this, I hurt so badly that I didn't even think about a cig for a couple days. Dentistry has progressed quite a bit since then, so hopefully you'll be in better shape than I was. Good luck dude, the good news is....you get the good drugs ;-)

Got three teeth extracted on the left side of my mouth (2 wisdom and the lower molar in front of them) yesterday. He had to pry, pull, cut and drill on one of them sumbitches for 45 minutes! Anyway, after the Novacaine wore off and the bleeding stopped, I snused a couple of portions over the course of the evening. Nothing terrible so far. Side note: I never get the good drugs. All I got for the op was novacaine, no nitrous oxide. All I got for post-op was Vicodin 5's. No Percs... Dammit.

Just don't suck on the portions, any sucking can cause bleeding. That's why they tell you to not drink with straws.
I've had a few oral surgeries.
I had my wisdom teeth pulled about 4 years ago. They put me user, but technically I was awake. Talking a bunch of shit on the ride home supposedly. I ended up eating solid foods the next day, they gave me normal antibiotics and codeine. I took the codeine for one day before it made me sick to my stomach. I just dealt through the pain. I was smoking hookah the same day, which I probably shouldn't have because of the "sucking", but it ended ok.
The worst surgery I had was when they removed my lower frenulum, that shit sucked for a good month or two, they put a piece of skin from the roof of my mouth over the area and sewed it up. It still doesn't look "normal" to this day, about 9 years later or so.
