    Oral health

How is your oral health and snus going?I saw there are special stingless pouches now but not sure how snus would work without burning the mouth?

Been snusing for 15 yrs or so without any oral effects that I know of. Except for some yellowing as expected from oral tobacco. I haven't tried the special stingless snus. You can go here to search about oral health. Theres a lot of threads about it.

Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

I enjoy the burning of the mouth. I was worried for the first 6 months to a year about gum recession but 13 years later things haven’t significantly changed. Before snus smoking helped me lose a couple of teeth and I know elder smokers who have lost pretty much all of them.

I think there was a study knocking around about snus helping with cavities. When I told my dentist I use snus she went crazy and told me I would get oral cancer - she called it chewing tobacco.

I stopped using toothpaste after reading studies that said you don’t need it (LOL) but I use an electric toothbrush with guidance from free YouTube videos made by bored hygienists in Covid lockdown. And I use salt water to rinse my teeth after reading a study that compared it favourably with Corsodyl mouthwash.

Anyways, I went back to the dentist for a checkup dreading what she would say and she told me whatever I am doing keep doing it.

Wouldnt recommend snusing 24/7, including while sleeping, for an extended period of time. Baking soda and water seems to freshen things up if your mouth is feeling out of sorts.

Yes baking soda with water is very good for a mouthwash but I find you need to use slightly warm water (if memory serves) for it to dissolve

actually Mattias I think the study was with baking soda (with slightly warm water) not salt but I use either. Salt dissolves in cold water more easily so I tend to use that more often.

I never got recession from snus, but those American Zyn pouches messed me up. Some recession and burning on my gums, right about the time I was trying to find something I liked that hadn’t been discontinued/shelved yet. (I’ll shut up about that one day…maybe).

I've been using snus for quite some time, and I've noticed that it's been relatively gentle on my oral health compared to some other tobacco products. One thing I've found is that it doesn't stain my teeth as much, which is a plus.Besides, you know, the sensation of burning in the mouth can be pretty off-putting, and these pouches have eliminated that issue. It's like a smoother, more enjoyable experience overall. If you're still on the hunt for information or have concerns about your oral health and snus, I've got a suggestion for you. You could check out resources like..[deleted by Mod].... They often share valuable insights that can help you make informed decisions.

Hey Rogalik! I find snus to be gentle as well on my gums. Since I started back my gums have been in berrer shape than they were when I didn’t use snus. Maybe I’m more meticulous about flossing, maybe it’s the snus!
