Im not sure if I would compare snus to nicotine gum entirely. I mean there is hardly any nicotine in the gum. While snus you can get up to 17mg of nicotine.

I might work my way down to the mini's.

I quit smoking because my heart started to fly sometimes out of the blue and got me really nervous. Feel like i might be giving myself a heart problem or something.

    sincerely.

ps been 7 days smoke free only snus

7 days congrats. First week is the worst but with snus you will make it. If I could do it anybody can.

You only absorb 10-30 percent of that nicotine from snus. So a average snus is higher them a 2mg piece of nicotine gum but nowhere near 8mg.

Back when I smoked I could go through 2 packs some nights drinking and the next day my chest would just rumble, race and skip beats all at the same time. There have been some minor palpitations as of recent but most of those times it seems to be caffeine related.

I have the same problem. I've been snusing and using snuff for about 2 years now.

And every time i go to sleep my heart just beats like hell.
Last time i checked the pulse rate it was over 100 bpm.

Should i be worried? Is it too fast? I'm 18 btw.

just wanted to chime in for those beginning Xanax. Please only take it as needed for particularly stressful situations, and not as a daily relief. I started out with probably 1MG a day and ended up to the max of 4 MG a day. You develop a tolerance after several years.. and the medication doesn't give the relief anymore, but watch out if you miss a dose because you will be feeling 2x as anxious without it. I am slowly cutting down, but let me tell you getting off this is much harder than giving up cigs after your tolerance kicks in. I wish I never started it, or knew to only use it as needed.

I only feel my heart beat hard when I use a strong snus. (11-14mg) To be fair, sometimes I don't know if its the snus or the err ummm pot. LMAO But I like it.... thats when I know I have that sweet ambrosia in my vains. I have yet to feel any anxiety associated with the heart pounding but after years of smoking, drinking coffee and hitting the bong I think my system just deals with it. Body chemistry is a strange thing so you should usually go with what works for you or see a doctor and get a professional opinion.

(only been exclusive to snus for 2 whole weeks now! Screw you cigarettes!)

Caffeine and alcohol hangovers are BIG heart rate stimulators.
Nicotine raises your heart rate up to about 10 BPM more but 10 is the max. It only raises mine by about a few BPM but your BPM will be the same for snus as it was for cigarettes.

It's very personal what snus can do to you.

There was a long period I was using snus, caffeine, and alcohol, all a decent amount. I got heart palpitations regularly and sometimes uncomfortable heart racing.

I quit snus and felt better. When I started again, I started getting heart palpitations with caffeine/nicotine combo. So I quit caffeine.

Haven't had any caffeine in 2 weeks. No palpitations and not heart racing that I can tell. Go figure. I can't speak to your anxiety or what will work for you, just saying only you can tell.

My blood pressure dropped significantly (I think anyway) once I went from smoking to snus/snuff.

While checked less often then (and in places like a doctor's office or some random machine at a store) mine used to consistently be in the range of 128 - 138 but after switching its consistantly (I get it checked on a daily basis now as an aside to and part of home help I get) its in the range of 88 - 112, most often the 98 - 106 range.

I realize that a doctors office or a store is a lot more stressful (to me anyway) than my own home and that's one factor, plus I started eating healthier in the interim and those could be factors too.

my heartbeat is always unusually fast (according to the same regular daily checks) but its not something I notice.
The health people monitoring this comment "your heart rate is always a little fast" but they don't seem concerned about it. Except for them testing this and 'charting' and telling me I'd never know. I figure its because I'm a smaller person (just like a cat or a bird will have a much faster rate just because its a really small thing, I guess somehow I think smaller people are going to have slightly faster ones too, but that's just a guess).

I used to once in a while get a slightly scary but mostly uncomfortable 'fluttery' feeling in my chest (it was like when a thumb or other muscle twitches, but felt like it was my heart doing that) and I used to sometimes be able to hear my heart pounding away in my ears (more annoying than anything especially when laying down trying to sleep) but in writing this I realize I don't get those any more, haven't in a really long time, and I think that also coincides with switching -- but then again there's other factors too, changing eating habits, getting help for other non-related things (that may be dropping stress levels for me too) etc etc involved too.

My cholesterol and stuff used to be a bit off not bad but a little off I guess, I've just had blood drawn this week for a few tests and seeing how the cholesterol stuff doing is another one.
