    Finally got sick :(

So I've been bragging how ironically since switching from copenhagen back in Oct 09 to snus and then soon after adding nasal "snuff" to my diet, I had yet to get a sinus infection, cold, or flu at all for like a first in X years I can remember. So anyhoo, don't know when it started or what went wrong but:

-Went out to a local bar with band with fiance about 2 weekends ago. Place was loaded with cigarette smoke (which I could never stand, now seems even worse). Next day and day(s) continuing after that I've developed a pretty nasty on & off cough but nothing else associated with it till last couple day, just the cough hacking as if I had been smoking.

-Ironically during the same time frame I had been put on an anti-biotic for some mysterious skin rash - possible flea bites from my dogs, not sure cause the doc had been ramming on me about my tobacco habits for 90% of my checkup visit and barely got to tell him about the bites/rash... So it was a 14 day antibiotic and seemed to clear up that condition BUT ironically about my last dose 3 days ago, the cough started progressing into a slight morning sore throat that would ease up later in the day.

-Fiance's daughter had been diagnosed with bronchitis along with possible sinus infection (probably caught at school of course....) about a week ago.

-So I spent the last two nights/weekend sleeping over at fiance's and by Sunday morning was hacking so bad along with being stuffed up like hardly able to breath through nose for first time this year and blowing "yellow" out.... NOTE: As most of you know my story, I've had to give up my daily doses of nasal snuff during these past two days before the onset of my presumed now "Cold / Sinus infection" as I had been religiously using some limited Hedges L.260 in the morning and night along with my other regular non-menthols throughout the day whilst at work or when usually at home in the evenings so as you can see in this case I WAS WITHOUT ALL MY NASAL SNUFF FOR OVER 48 HOURS AND IRONICALLY CAUGHT THIS FRIGGEN BUG NOW!

Just thought I would vent. Who knows wtf caused me to get sick... Combination of the above? All I know is *knock on wood* - oops there went my fist through the plank.... Hadn't had a bit of sinus/cold related problems for the first year I can remember since starting nasal snuff and/or getting off the Copenhagen dip. (and now my first 48 hours all winter without nasal snuff and I catch a fäcking sinus cold.)

/Rant off... Sorry I'm very crabby and sick and can't miss work tomorrow. Gonna pound down some more Hedges L.260 before dozing off as noticing it is getting things moving.

sorry to hear you're sick man. Sounds like your course of antibiotics was too short, and could be to blame.

Either way you aren't doing yourself any favors by using nasal snuff while you have a sinus infection. Put that shit away for a while.

I just have to put my 2 cents in here. I have been using the Hedges religiously and my sinuses stay clear, but I have noticed that the congestion has moved to my chest. I think that the nasal snuff clears my nose but the congestion goes down. I have an awful cough now and I think it really should be a sinus infection. Last night I was wheezing, I just hope it doesn't turn to pneumonia.

i'm as fond of tobacco as the next guy, but if you're sick, it's time to put it away for a bit... it will be there when you're better.

Thanks for the advice all. Going to back off the nasal snuff till better. I'm so screwed up I can't even taste Hedges L.260 and whilst it clears the nasals, thats about as far as it goes. Haven't snuffed the rest of the day since this mornings attempt to clear out. I reckon once sick, the nasal snuff isn't going to do shit but make things worse.

On another note, I'm pissed. I want my snus and have been snus'n off and on all day but can't taste a thing. Sneezed so hard earlier I blew out a portion and couldn't find the damn thing. Later got up out of my office chair to take a piss and upon returning noticed I'd been sitting on the portion. WTF, must flew right under my ass whilst sitting thats how hard I been sneezing.

Probably would be a good time to use up my General Wintergreen since I can't smell or taste shit but something tells me just knowing I put one of those suckers in, I would end up heaving up and just making matters worse.

Any recommendations as to snus for when sick? I STILL NEED MY DAMN NICOTINE!!!! I'm feeling a little more love for the "whites" atm for the minimal drip. Thinking that is a little easier on the already irritated throat.

Damnit though. This sucks. My one and only reasonable excuse for the nasal snuff pitch to the fiance (not like it mattered anyhoo), but I always bragged how I haven't had one cold or sinus infection for the first time in many years this winter and now this.

On a brighter note. I was able to crack a good sales pitch to the Dr. office today in my plea for a Z-pack w/o needing a F...ing appointment which they got called in to the Walmart and I just started my 1st day = 2 tablets so hoping to kick this thing. Everytime I cough my head feels like its ready to explode....

Thanks. No it sucks. Started the initial 2-pill 1st day of Z-pack last evening. Really felt like shit through the rest of the evening and bedtime. Woke up today and forced myself to work. Headache eased up but totally congested and slightly dizzy. Still have cough to but so far not hurting my head. Seems like things are trying to move around a little but still can't taste anything.

My mom has COPD and always has some albuterol so she gave me some (since I am too lazy to go to the dr and get some) it seems to be helping me get a productive cough.

Wtf is COPD and Albuterol. (I know lazer, google you dumb ass....) :?

Anyhoo not sure if I mentioned I made the mistake of trying some Benydril at the onset of this Sunday morning and damn near went into a coma not realizing the friggen Clonazepam does not mix well with it so now must be careful at what I take. Nothing like falling asleep in a Baptist church whilst standing. ops:

                      COPD-Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

Albuterol is medication used to help clear your air-ways.

A member of the COPD club myself here (that's why the doc said to quit the cigs or else)...Spiriva every day and Combivent inhaler (ipratropium bromide and albuterol sulfate) when needed. The Combivent does clear things out for me, but straight albuterol didn't do a thing for me during the pulmonary testing.

sad thing is my step mom has never smoked a day in her life. She is a breast cancer survivor, so she is very strong. I think she just might be my hero.
