Just been for a run for the first time since stopping smoking.

I used to smoke a cigarette before and after my runs. After two years of no smoking, my endurance has vastly improved.

I did the first day of Couch to 5k today.

        Shit was good.

          Dang... Good Job.

I was going to go to the gym yesterday. Instead, I made 3 batches of cookies with the kids and then watched a James Bond movie.

I'm setting my sites on getting to the gym once this week. This will be a 100% improvement over last week.

I need to find/download some of those music mixes that tell you when to switch paces that NJDrew was talking about.

I'm going to start going back to the gym after week 4 of the Couch to 5K. I want to get my cardio up some before I start lifting again.

Running is a little too high-impact for me. I have osteoarthritis, and I don't need to put that kind of strain on my joints. But I do a lot of walking (hiker's pace -- many people can't keep up with me), and I've noticed over the past couple days that I'm getting a rush from it. I figure it's the extra oxygen I'm taking in, now that my lungs are clearer.

I have an actual iPhone app so I can listen to my own music, but I think there are some podcasts with the timing... not sure if they have music or if it would be to your liking... that's why I went right to the app purchase. If the heat holds out, I'll be starting the C25k program next week after a few more days on the bike. I think I will then alternate jogging days with light bike days just to keep from getting too sore or getting out of the routine.

Yeah, I've seen them somewhere. I think the music was classical, which can be kind of cool to run to sometimes. I could probably load up audacity or something and make some myself that I would prefer.

I like the idea though. I can't imagine trying to keep track without it. Hell, I lose track of how many laps I do.

Check out the c25k.com site. There are some mixes there. I got one from there.

Thanks for the link - I started a c25k "thread" in the group.

Cool. I'll be sure to add my progress when I get going.
