    Training and snus

So you're an athlete who uses snus? Then we got something in common. This is how I structure my snus use to fit with my training. This works for me, and I haven't experienced any negative effects due to the snus use, maybe even some positive effect.

    Wake up: 7.15 AM
    First meal: 7.30 AM
    First portion: 7.45 AM
    Second portion: 8.30 AM
    First training session: 9.30 AM
    Second meal: 11.00 AM
    Second portion: 11.30 AM
    Two portions at random time.
    Third meal: 15.00
    Third timed portion: 15.30
    Second training session: 17.00
    Fourth meal: 19.00

Past this time of the day I use snus randomly. I use Skruf Xtra Stark Portion.
I only use this during vacations. During schooldays I only have one trainingsession a day, but I use the rule: never snus closer than one hour before training or after training. If you use it too close up to the training, you're heartbeat will be higher than necesarry during the session, and you won't get as much out the session as you could have if you use it too shortly after the session..

Am I the only one who structures my use like this?

Well I reckon Sgreger will agree with me here. We were both in the army (infantry) and we ran from the crack of sparrow fart in the morning until we went to bed every day. In the Brit army this was broken up with multiple smoke breaks and boy did we smoke. It didn't affect our fitness one jot so I doubt very much snus would. But then again I was young - I left at the age of 33.
I suppose if you're a professional athlete and always want to be in the absoloute peak of feeling good and watching your heart rate and such it might make a teeny weeny difference but I'd doubt there'd be any other pro athletes like yourself on the site to compare with - if there are I stand corrected.
I'm 40 this month and there's a big difference in my physical fitness now though even though I'm six foot and 170 pounds. I do notice that snus will make me only slightly lethargic and I mean only slightly - which is nice - so - I don't snus before I go out for a run as I feel more alert and up for it. But I'd only refrain from snussing for about half an hour or so - if I even remember to refrain.

I snus on my walk to the gym and the walk back to my office. I don't keep a strict regimen with anything really, especially not snus. But it was running that got me to first try snus -- after running a couple miles when I was very out of shape a few years ago I lit up a cig immediately afterward and decided it was one or the other; smoke and die early or quit and start exercising reguarly. I walked back to work, got on Northerner.com and ordered up some snus.

I'm far from an athlete, but I'm a longtime gym rat. I go to the gym and/or do some other type of physical activity almost every day. The gym is one of the few places I refrain from snusing. (Actually, the only other one I can think of right now is church.) I feel like I could snus at the gym without doing any real harm; I just choose not to. (Same with church.) I do snus going to and from the gym. I also snus during other physical activity outside the gym, e.g., skateboarding.

this kid is barely 15 years old. we shouldn't encourage him any further.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

he was called out in january and he admitted he was almost 14 or so then. I give him the benefit of the doubt and figured he might be 15 now.

at 15 your body can pretty much handle anything.

I snus before and after the gym but I couldn't do it while working out. i do so fairly vigorously and the juices would drive me nuts. I do snus sometimes when playing frisbee, baseball, etc. but it doesn't usually last long. Same with skiing. I don't think it really goes well with physical activity but certainly isn't as debilitating as smoking was...but then again I was closer to 15 than I am now.

I snus whenever I feel like it. My physical fitness has greatly improved since quitting smoking, so I'm not too worried if snus has a slight detrimental affect on my fitness level. Even if it did, it certainly is much less compared to what cigarettes did. In matter of fact, smokeless tobacco has no effect on physical fitness:

                              That doesn't even make sense...
