I had quit nicotine for about 5 months 10/09-3/10. I didn't even try, or think it was forever- I just kept getting terrible feelings like heart palpitations and confusion every time I snused. So I figured my body had had enough.

When I started again, I just knew the time was right. It was wierd. Not once in my period without it did I feel strong cravings. I didn't think much about it. Then one day I felt like nicotine would improve my life, So I started again. I was notably devoid of any emotions or judgements during this time, I just did what my body wanted.

I've tried a whole slew of different flavors and brands, all with varying degrees of content. I've settled on General, Original portion for my day to day snusing, but I do like northerner boost in the morning when I'm waking up or when I get home from work and I'm tired.

One thing I've noticed is that the Camel snus irritated my gums if I used it constantly for days, the swedish ones don't. I've had a general in my mouth constantly (different pouches of course) and my gums are as comfy as the first time I put one in. The Camel snus was fine unless I used them repeatedly for days, and then it would chafe my gums and I'd have to switch sides.

Well done wangsta - i have the feelign that Snus is easier to go without than cigs ever were. I know i can go 3- 4 hours sometimes without really needing a snus. I knwo a lot of the time i pop a snus in out of habit. I'm tempted to try out some nic free snus someday just to see how that goes.

Be careful. There were a few times I quit smoking for 5+ months and fell right back into the habit. If you do relapse on nicotine, reach for a can of snus instead. *Just my advice.

Very true, I know people that quit smoking for 2+ yrs and fell right back into the trap of smoking.. cigarettes are a very insidious and evil trap

just wanted to thank everyone here. i've switched over to snus for about 5 months. last weekend... well just decided to stop... its been 5 days... i'm nicotine free and woke up today with that revlation... what a bad dream nicotine was....

just for clarification... i smoked on and off for 7 years. was going pack+ a day. i used skruff stark (strongest one) and did about 5-10 peices a day. when i stopped i felt emptiness in the gut for a few days.. but that was it... much easier to handle then before.

                good luck and snus on!

                wangsta

Grats on kicking the Nicotine habit.

In matter of fact, I know two people who quit for 5 years and started smoking again. This further proves the statement "Once an addict, always an addict". I don't mind being addicted to nicotine, I just couldn't stand inhaling tar and carbon monoxide on a daily basis.
