    Tolerance

How do you guys deal with the tolerance you built up to nicotine after snus use? I understand smokers get used to the whole act of smoking and having that lit cigarette between there fingers. But I never was a smoker and never going to be, so I never had to deal with the addiction aspect. But it seems with snus, I am already building up a tolerance to the nicotine "high", so no more am I getting that "Oh wow, it feels like I am light headed, but still feeling very nice and relaxed." and now more of a "Why did I was $3 on something that makes me feel...meh. When I can just get a big cup of coffee instead.

I feel like that from time to time when I rarely get that 'head spin' or 'buzz'. Maybe I might get 1 a day 1st thing of a morning but not always. Why am I using this stuff? Why am I wasting money on it? Why am I taking on the small health risk involved? Answer - take it away and realise that these days I just need it to feel 'normal' :/ unless I want to try and quit nicotine altogether. On the big+ side though at least I don't smoke anymore. I think that's classic nicotine addiction, suck you in with a 'buzz' that largely passes once you become tolerant but by that point you're hooked and you need it to feel 'normal' and the nicotine monkey is firmly on your back.

Good call, Pris. I don't really get the buzz anymore either. I did this morning 'cos I've got a Thunder ES in but I couldn't use sterks all day. I recognize that there is simply too much nic in there for me to be comfortable.

That being said, though it's not a buzz, I can feel the nic in an 8mg portion at least initially. It's a comfort thing for me I think. Surely I am addicted but I find it easier to go without snus than I ever did with cigs. Snus also helps me not eat sometimes. Maybe I use it for several things...maybe I am just trying to justify it (which is a classic addict behavior).

Agreed with all above. I smoked 2 packs per day for 26 years and did so largely out of habit (when I woke up in the morning, after meals, while driving, during the day several times for a break, etc.) and once I started snusing I stopped smoking, completely. I never really felt a buzz when I started snusing (I feel the burn occasionally and I like that) but you're right Wicked, I can go longer without snus than I could smokes, but find myself chain snusing because I can. I use 5-7 portions a day and always have one in, sometimes for up to 4 hours. I know it's time to change portions when I start feeling irritable. When I pop the new portion in I feel the effects within a couple minutes.

So while I probably built a tolerance years ago the effects of the nic are still very evident to me when I am using it, and when I am not.

I intend to stop using snus and other tobacco when my current supply runs out, probably in less than a month. Main reason is my wife's objections to the whole thing, but also as others have said above, I am starting to get tired of it. I am also a non-smoker.

Quit while you still can. The "buzz" wears off pretty quick and you just become a slave to nicotine.

I still remember my first cigarette many years ago, it made half sick, light headed but like an dumb kid I kept trying until the tolerance to those things was built up. Little did I know that I would become addicted but for sure I did as most of us do. The best choice for me was snus, 98% safer..........................don't forget that. What I'm saying is if you use nic in any form the tolerence will develop. For me unless I use a strong portion snus I get no "buzz" but it is about being at ease with out smoking for the first time in 40 years, it's worth the 2% risk. And it tastes wonderful. Now I won't say the same about American dip, the manufactures here just don't get it..............................bye

I have never gotten a "buzz" from snus. I sometimes snus, snuff and smoke hookah and don't get a "buzz". I just do it because I enjoy it.

Nic isn't really known for that much of a buzz in general anyway. That's why it's not illegal to drive a car and smoke or use any other tobacco product.

If it isn't good enough to impair your driving then I don't consider it a buzz lol.

Rofl. I get a slight lightheaded feeling if I smoke hookah alone. And there is this one shisha that is high in nicotine and will knock you on your ass, but snus and snuff really don't do anything for me in the "buzz" department. Neither do cogs, maybe that's why I never really picked up smoking them.

I was on a 16mg Thunder Frosted for the first couple of years and I've toned it down. I'm down to the 8mg Thunder.
What's nice about these is that I've lowered my tolerance and thereby recognising a nice nicotine hit again without overdoing it.
Sometimes the 8mg is too little so I bung two in.

You'll find that you'll have a nicotine level that suits you. When you're overdoing it you'll never find it - it's always best to start low and work up.
Any less than 8mg is too little for me and sometimes 8mg can be too little, but that's rare.

What I find odd though is why someone would start up a snus habit without having smoked.

Don't use snus! Before you know it, you'll be shooting up heroin and smoking methamphetamine. On a serious note, nicotine isn't really a "party" drug. The only reason people use tobacco is to relieve nicotine withdrawal symptoms (snus included).

Nicotine is great. I don't chain snus, I use nicotine to help me focus when at work or while I am doing something. This has lead to an addiction that I must service, but I have never lost sight of why I like to use tobacco and its benefits for me. If you use tobacco to achieve a buzz you are doing exactly what you need to to develop a constant and unrewarding habit. Moderation is key to most things in life.

and if I hear anyone here say "everything in moderation, including moderation" I will make their computer screens explode on their faces with my mind. It is a trite, incoherent platitude favored by sorority girls with delusions of intellect. Don't be like that.
