To be clear - Epok Snus (with tobacco) is still made and sold in Norway and Switzerland. Also, Epok Chew Bags (with tobacco) are sold in Denmark.

I would have to verify Switzerland for the snus version; it may be legal there but BAT has, to my knowledge, restricted Epok Snus to Norway. LYFT would be fine for Switzerland as are all all white portions right now. I don't follow chew bags so I'll defer to you on that.

Taste is always in the mouth of the snuser. The flavoring used in LYFT is the same as EPOK. EPOK always had plant fibers as a filler but also washed tobacco. LYFT has no tobacco, washed or otherwise. They replaced it with washed eucalyptus fibers.Theoretically, the taste should be identical. Speaking specifically for me, I found some slight differences in flavor and aroma, depending on the variety.

I'd recommend buying a can or two (not a roll) of your favorite EPOK flavors in the LYFT version and see what you think. As an added note, be aware LYFT is introducing 4 new flavors Week 19; some higher in nicotine. If you can wait until then, I would include the new flavors in your order.

Let me know what you think after you've compared them! :courage:

The Chew product with Swedish Match names is produced by V2 Tobacco whom Swedish Match purchased. The nicotine comes from the tobacco. It is mostly high nicotine by customer demand. Refrigeration not required just like V2's USA-only Thunder Xtreme snus products partially due to low moisture hence the white portions. Safety is equivalent to the snus V2 produces.

Depends whose chew from Denmark you are talking about. If you are referring to chew bags, in some the cut is different than snus. The ones made by Swedish Match would conform to the Swedish food safety laws even though they're being produced in Denmark. Most likely, the nicotine is from the tobacco; the extra strong being enhanced with boosters in the pouch. With tobacco-free all white products, the type of nicotine varies. ZYN and on! use nicotine salts.

As to refrigeration, the Thunder XTREME portion snuses sold in the US claim they do not need to be refrigerated by Swedish Match. The reasoning I heard was that the packaging was sufficient to prevent spoilage. Personally, I like cold snus in the morning so I refrigerate everything including XTREME.

Additionally, once the can is open, I have found storing the open cans in the chiller keeps them from drying out as quickly as open room temperature cans do.

To me, chew bags by anyone have too much of a paper taste to them. Fortunately, I live in a country where snus is legal! :-)

That's an interesting one chew producers using 'boosters' with their strong products. Would that be in the form of pure pharma nicotine? I thought the strength of smokeless was governed by the type of tobacco used & the steam/leaf ratio? Or maybe that's just with snus? Unless we're talking the amount of freebasing going on?

I agree some chew has a paper taste, maybe even portion material consistency going on. I remember reading chew portion material is generally thicker than that used with snus so that it can stand up to being chewed on a bit.

In this case boosters refers to pH enhancers which are commonly used in extra strong Snus. A good example was the Thunder 10 year anniversary edition. It was made the old fashioned way and used no pH enhancers. The nicotine level was 8mg/g. If the pH had been boosted with nothing else changed, I was told that the nic level would have risen to 45mg/g!
