Im quitting mainly because of the higher cancer risk. Dip is far safer than cigarettes but its not as safe as snus. Dip is amazing though.

I'm sure if you dip twice or three times a day and changing the sides of your mouth you won't get hurt..

Ya i'm sure you're right. Trust me im not a tobacco nazi who thinks everyone who dips will get cancer but I do know snus is safer and a great alternative so why not switch.

                Welcome to the boards...

I was a dipper too. Straight, Grizz or Skoal. That Grizzly straight still rocks a fat ass but I can't take more than 4 dips in a day anymore. I get a can every other month and it lasts me about a week now. Snus is where it's at but remember:

Winners never quit and quitters never win.

I got into dip after I got into snus, I think many are like that, because the idea of most American oral tobacco, with it's spit and all was a turn off, before ever trying it, but then snus opened me to the curiosity to try it. And I liked it, but it take getting used to, like with snus for me as well.

Personally, I don't think it's "dangerous". I think one will rot their teeth and gums before they even might possibly maybe get cancer. Smoking is more linked to mouth and throat cancer, and I know a lot of smokers and no ona has it. Personally, I think there is a lot of politics surrounding tobacco and "health".

I really do think of quitting all oral tobacco, but it's not cancer, I don't wanna wear down my gums and loose my teeth.

                  Welcome to the forum!

To be honest with everyone, I just had my first dip a couple of weeks ago. My first was Grizzly Staright LC. Love the flavor.

I end up buying both Grizzly Natural and FC snuff. I do, however, like the flavor of these better than snus. The thing that won me over was, I didn't have to keep it in my mouth for very long, in which I like. I didn't like snus in my mouth for over an hour (45 minutes average). Dip hits me hard and quick...plain and simple.

I only have dip twice a day. I'm more of a nasal snuff kind of guy.

To me, the best thing about snus, the real snus, is the spitless factor. It's just great to use it at work or at the mall, and not have to spit. But I do like the bold dip flavors. So, I also like chew, plug, and nasal snuff, though my sinuses act up too much. So, I really don't wanna say one is better than the other, or feel I have to take sides. I like them all. I don't think I have to choose one and exclude the others.

Ya I was never saying that you have to pick one or that dip is the devil. Dip has its perks, it does hit fast and hard. I usually only kept a dip in for a half hour so when I started researching snus I was somewhat suprised at all the people keeping a snus in for 2 hours. I personally liked to spit, I guess its the southern in me. Bottom line is they are both good, however dip has been linked to cancer while snus has not. I of course don't think snus is harmless, but less harmful than dip. Either way you go enjoy your tobacco.

I really have to say I am surprised a how much I like snus. I didn't think I would like it, but I do. As for my lip "craving" the dip I feel you there. I'm really just trying to ignore it right now. I never had ANY ill effects from dipping, but I don't want to risk it. From all of the research I've seen I can't see A SINGLE REASON that anyone would not switch from smoking/dipping to snus. I've read that it is estimated to be as safe as coffee. Just can't understand why American Smokeless won't make the changes that the Swedes obviously found to make tobacco use safer. Must admit watching the baseball playoffs with a pinch in the top lip and the bottom one empty is a bit odd...
The lip craving will pass in a month or so

In the meantime lower lip some los................I mean you can't watch baseball without spitting.................that would be softball!!!!
When it's my time to go, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle did....... Not screaming in terror like his passengers
