    Weight gain

    hey everyone, how are you

Did anyone experience weight gain when switching from cigs to snus? Aside from a little insomnia and some cloudy thoughts during the day, over-eating is something that has been apparent. Any ideas? Or just something else?

    Thanks!

Not Really for me...Just something else I guess.. I feel I lost wieght since I started using snus since I have one in all day and evening and only take it out to eat: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner and don't want to lose the flavor or a portion by taking it out to munch... An Idea would be to keep a portion in... As far as cloudy thoughts.. The only ones i have is what flavor to pick next.. You can't over eat if you have a portion in...

I've eaten with snus in. I almost never do it now, but I have sat and eaten a plate of food. It was thrust in front of me and it was delicious and hot so I dug in. I guess I could have taken the portion out, but I had just put it in and it was Grov WP. As if that wasn't enough it was still pretty dry so I went for it. It was pretty good but I wouldn't make a habit out of it.

Sounds like you have the oral fixation. I still have it and I'm 4 years in. I feel for ya. I keep snus in for the purpose of replacing eating sometimes. Well, often.

I lost weight, but my switch to snus coincided with my decrease in soda consumption. Otherwise, I think it would have been a draw.

        Edit:
Ya know, thinking about it, I used to feel like I was starving when I started snus. My stomach would hurt like I hadn't eaten in hours. That feeling went away after awhile; that's why I forgot about it. Is that what you feel like? If so, it should be gone in a couple months if my memory is correct.

I've been trying to train myself to reach for a snus in the freezer instead of a snack in fridge. I'm pretty much the same as my smoking weight (45 days in).

Me too, basically same weight. A friend of mine said, "thought smoking was supposed to help you lose weight" I said, "If that were true, there would be no fat smokers", so guess that's a myth lol

I quit smoking and switched to snus almost 2 years ago. No weight gain here, if anything I might have lost 5/10 pounds.

Weight gain with snus doesn't make sense. Nicotene is an appetite suppresant. Ever see those skinny supermodels always smoking? Sometimes when I am hungry, instead of eating, I pop a snus in so the hunger feeling goes away for a bit.

I had no adverse affects from switching from cigs to snus, because I was still getting the nicotene. So no trouble sleeping, no eating habit changes, nothing like that at all.

I would imagine weight gain from the cig to snus switch would be odd. The only thing I could think of is maybe the extra salt/sodium from snus could MAYBE contribute to more water retention. But that is really reaching.

Me either. I don't recall that "withdrawals" or any such thing ever even crossed my mind. It was that easy to go from smoking a pack and a half per day for 16 years to not smoking at all and getting my fix and enjoying it more with snus. epeer2, congratulations on quitting and welcome to the forum, but I do have to say that from the few posts I've read from you, you're worrying too much about the water being cold and in the meantime you're standing on the side of the pool freezing your ass off. All of us in the pool know it's much more comfortable in the water, so dammit man, jump in and have a swim.

Snus actually increases the appetite for food in my case.

Unlike smoking. While smoking 1 - 2 packs a day you hardly feel the need to eat. (and most people feel this way)

                      I always gain 8 - 10 kg when I'm quitting smoking.
